New Bicycle!

Not too long ago I bought what I thought was my dream bicycle, a Bianchi Milano. I test drove one in 2005 but then Katrina happened before I could get it. I bought a Trek hybrid after "K" but eventually got rid of it as we were incompatible.

Late last year I found an NOS Milano that was just like the one I test drove so I jumped on it. Sadly, I had neck surgery post "K" and the cafe racer posture did not suit me anymore so I gave it to my cousin this morning.

Here is the beauty I tried to love:

For more than a few months I've been on a search for an "upright" posture bike that would not kill my neck and I think I found it.

I got it on Friday but I'm still dialing in the seat and bars. It's from Public, a San Fransisco based company.

The new bike actually inspires me to hop on and ride and I can't wait until the Brooks saddle is broken in. Today I removed the front rack and I have some vintage Swiss bicycle panniers that should be here in a couple of days.

Will take another picture then.

Cheers! Tim

Still have my Supersport in my parents attic from the mid 70's, bright yellow. Put a ton of miles on that bike back in the day.

Great looking ride….but I prefer the Celeste color of the Bianchi, how much saddle time to break in that leather seat?

That one looks cool.

If you need more front storage,
try the bike cart...

Granted I can't afford one of these but I absolutely love them, I see them on the road all the time and am just in awe, they are truly works of art. They should be when their entry level bike costs as much as a Rolex...

I love the color Celeste too and the seat will probably take a couple of hundred miles to break in.

That's funny! When I was growing we had a unicycle and we learned to ride them at a local supermarket using a shopping cart. There were three of us that had unicycles and the manager of the store did not like us buzzing around his parking lot with the baskets.

Thanks Leo!

I took it out today again for a little spin:

I realized after I took the above picture that I forgot my water bottle at home so the ride was rather short.

I think I just figured out something important about the leather seat. When I think I have the seat height figured out in front of my house, after a little riding, the seat will warm up and give a little, making my initial adjustment moot. I need to adjust the height a little higher so when I ride I'll sink down to the optimum setting.

I also found a great app to map my rides via either Apple or Google maps and here is the ride I did today:

The app is Cyclemeter and will store every ride you do. It's $4.99 for a year and doesn't require you to log in to a website or sign in via social media.

Both are really cool bikes. I absolutely love the Milano. There is something about the color Bianchi uses that really stands out. The Public bike is pretty neat as well. I love local companies that build custom bikes.
