New Submariner-Ticking Sound
I picked up a brand new Submariner yesterday from a jeweler referred by a good friend and owner of several Rolex timepieces. I paid $7800 OTD and received the box with all original documentation, box and warranty card from the AD and my name listed as the original owner for warranty purposes with matching serial numbers which I verified through "Bob's Watches" has a production date of 2011.
The watch had all the plastic protective coating and tags I would imagine accompany all new Rolex watches. The jeweler also provided me with an appraisal for insurance purposes. I inspected the piece for all known issues in an effort to authenticate the watch (thanks to all the feedback from the veterans on this forum--Thanks). I do hear a ticking sound when placing my ear to the crystal and became concerned as many members suggest that Rolex movement sweeps and does not "tick." I have read that some movements produce a ticking sound (6-8 ticks per second). Should I be concerned about the ticking or rest easy that the watch I paid for is authentic? I apologize for the redundancy if this question has already been addressed. This is my first Rolex and post on this forum, your feedback is appreciated. |
