114060 and 216570 (black) in same collection?

Who here owns both and can honestly say both have stylistic attributes that will hold their interest and a place in their collection for the long haul?

For those that remember a recent post of mine, I inquired about a 116613LB with sunburst dial and tried them on for a second round but this time with my wife. She did not think it suited me and I had to agree... As much as I loved the watch it didn't match my country-esque style. I find myself wearing a camouflage hat, boots, and blue jeans more often than most here I'm guessing. Not to mention, my casper complexion did not help any... She said when you're 40 (currently 33) get the watch if you really want because you love it and forget your concerns on appearance. Fair enough and I'm going to hold her to that! In all fairness she thought it was beautiful as well!

Then I looked back into the display and noticed the 114060 for my first time. I used to own the 14060M but it's wasn't like this... the symmetry of that ND jet black maxi dial (not matte like the 216570 black) really comes through against that polished ceramic bezel. The watch says wear the hell out of me and forget about what day it is! Why? Because you have the 216570 for that nonsense and because it makes sense on the EXPII42 considering it's a dual timezone watch. This was also the first time I got to seriously fiddle with the glidelock and loved everything about it.

So who here gladly owns both?

I've both 216570's ( black and white ) plus a GMTIIc does that count!!! Infact I've a Panerai29a, Suunto and BR03-88 also that also tell two time zones, heck I just like GMT's.

They all get/got worn for different reasons ( GMT with its PCL's and EXP's without - for example - if you want bling/no bling )... shirt or polo ( Panerai is a pain under shirt as thick watch ) etc etc...

so, just buy what you like and damn the rest - if you need date or not, if you want glide or not, maybe you should consider a EXP39mm in there just to mix things up too!

Easily justifiable! Very different watches.
The 114060 is a must have.

I'm guessing you haven't spent much time in Texas or the south?

Camo hat? I wear a Sqautchin' baseball cap (from the TV show Looking for Bigfoot). There are times when one needs to blend with the lower orders

Agreed. The 216570 and 114060 are very different.

My only recollection of the south was patrolling the thickest Georgia and NC jungle and sleeping in Florida swamps.
I must not have been paying attention!

I still like the LV and think it may give me that splash of color my collection in missing but the cost compared to the 114060 is substantial enough to give me pause. I could use the difference to buy a glidelock for the EXP42.

If you had to choose between the LV and the 114060 which would you part with first?

They are different enough. I am a big fan of the new TT Bluesy but I understand the effect of seeing the black subc for the first time as I recently sprayed mine with Veraet for the first time and it shines and sheens like it was new at the ADs.

And I would make that 35 not 40, if you stay on the forum you will not have the willpower to wait another 5 years and I've always said 35 is the real milestone when you become a true man... you can use that line if you have to.
