Vintage 1803 Question

I recently got a hold of an old 1803 with the 1556 movement. I have a question about the dial. The dial doesn't have prongs that most do. What is this called when it's the type of dial with no pins/prongs? It's like a snap on or something. My horologist was explaining it to me but he has a thick accent so I couldn't make it out over the phone. Seems like there should be a name for it.
