I Have A Lot To Learn About 5513 Vintage Rolex!
I bought a "1965 ~ 5513 Submariner" two days ago and it has some issues! I asked here if anyone knew if the dial matched the year and got no response...
I researched it and communicated with some very nice people on Vintage Rolex Forum (VRF). I received it today and the Rolex case is right but the non-serif dial is from the early 70's, and there is no way that dial was born on a case with a 1.2 mil serial. The bezel was not functioning correctly and the bracelet is either aftermarket or not the proper one for a 1965. The correct gilt dial and handset for a 1.2 serial number would not easy to find in any condition and would cost close to the value of the watch as it is now, not to mention the bezel insert. Therefore, I sent the watch back to the seller immediately for a refund! TAKE AWAY from my first vintage buying experience: The Vintage Rolex market is a completely different animal. Be careful out there everyone! If you want to play in the vintage game do your homework and know all you can about the specific watch. http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=353528
