Rolex Explorer II- Tritium v Luminova?

Which is better to own the tritium or superluminova version of the explorer ii. Will be buying today in about 2 hours so please help!!!

I am looking for which would hold its value better and sell stronger after say 10 years?

Thanks,
Alex

Neither has better collectibility...get superluminova if you want it to glow in the dark, get tritium if you want patina (or the potential for it). The main thing is the condition of the watch (case/dial/hands/bracelet). Both will hold value about the same as there will be a roughly equal market for both ten years from now, IMO.

Edit: My choice would be solid end links with lug holes and luminova...approx late A serial, P serial, K serial and early to mid Y serial. (roughly 2000 - 2002)

Thanks for the response. I did end up going for the watch and it is the tritium version simply for the patina. Pics coming soon :)

I'm thinking of getting an Explorer so interested to know what you got - black or white dial?

Black dial. I tried both and whilst the white was nice i decided that the black dial is better for more occasions and can be dressed up as a more formal watch if need be. At the same time it is perfect for a weekend at the beach. Black dial all the way!

I took pictures using my iPhone and transferred them onto Mac's iPhoto- do you know how to then upload them as attachments to this site?

Click on Go Advanced, then click the paperclip icon, and take it from there.

For all my talk about lug holes, neither of my Explorer IIs has them, but my A serial pepsi has the desired combo.

I owned a T series polar 16570 and the lack of glow from the tritium was a big issue for me. I need to be able to see the time in low light conditions but for others it may not matter. for a daily use watch I'd stick to the Luminova variants.

It also had the lug holes in the case, a great feature but I never actually needed to use them as the standard bracelet was fine.
