Tudor Submariner
Hey guys! I hope this is the right forum to ask about a Tudor. After all, a Tudor is a Rolex, no? :)
My friend's got a Tudor Submariner and he has no idea what year it is or what model exactly, so we're trying to ID it. Any help is appreciated :) It has a domed acrylic crystal and the dial says: Tudor Oyster Prince 200m 600ft Submariner The watch has no date. The hour markers don't glow (I don't know if they used to, the watch is pretty old), and they're kinda maxi style, slightly bigger than the current Submariner Date markers. I think two of the hands barely glow. The watch is not self-winding, it's hand-wound and says Original Oyster Case by Rolex Geneva on the back. 'steelinox 23' is engraved in small letters on the band next to the Tudor logo The band also says 380b and 9315 near the case. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of it, but it pretty much looks like this: except the 3, 6, and 9 markers are triangle like the 12 hour one. If you guys could please try to identify it, like what year it is, the movement, etc...and maybe take a guess at what it's worth! Thanks!

first of all does it have a rose or sheild like the picture you showed?(on the dial)
I am puzzled by the statement you made about it being a wind up model.are you sure of this?because I have never found a tudor sub that was a winding version.I have heard that there may have been one from the 50's with a wind up,maybee it has an altered movement?you will have to see inside the case.look under each lug for your model # and serial number and I can tell you the year and what movement should be in it. cheers |

I think it might actually be self-winding. My friend said he had to hand wind it every few days because it stops. But he hasn't worn it enough so now that I think of it, it's probably self-winding.

Hi, does it look like this?
Most probably a 9401/0 from the 80's but without pics it's pretty hard. Pop off the bracelet and you'll find the model number between the lugs. :) Nice watch though Cheers - N.

94010 (or 9401/0) basically comes with 2 versions and both versions come with 2 colors, either blue or black dial and bezel insert. For earliler version, the lum is square in shape as well as the hour and minute hands. For later version, the lum is circular in shape except for those at 3, 6 9, 12 locations which are trianguar in shape. This later model may come with mercedez hour hand or big ball hour hand.
