Accurist AND time.gov 18 sec fast this AM...
I thought my Sub had gone haywire overnight... I guess Accurist and time.gov need to synchronize themselves with my 35 year old mechanical chronometer... ;)
Seriously, the Accurist clock and the time.gov clocks were both 18 seconds fast this morning. As I have written this, the time.gov clock has corrected, and is with WWV now... but Accurist is still running 18 seconds fast. I think if you're serious about checking or regulating the performance of your watch, you probably ought to go with a broadcast signal, rather than anything off the internet. I have ordered a Casio Atomic Waveceptor for the purposes of monitoring various mechanical watches I tinker with from time to time. I have an atomic clock with radio receiver as well (and this is what first tipped me off to the +18 second error of time.gov and Accurist)... but the little Waveceptor Casio will be more handy, and can double as a harsh duty watch when I don't want to risk messing up my Sub. http://accurist123.com/ http://www.time.gov/timezone.cgi?Eastern/d/-5/java There are the two online time links... as mentioned, time.gov corrected a few minutes ago (about 9:10 EST)... but as of this writing, Accurist is anything but "accurate"... Although I just loved the British accent of the female voice telling what time it is on accurist123.com, I only use this site from now on since it is much more reliable:
wwp.greenwichmeantime.com (yes, it says "wwp").

Dude... I hate to be the bearer of bad news... but that Greenwich site is +18 sec right now as well. No kidding. Check it out. :o
I wonder what the heck is going on here? Hmmmm.... could be a global warming thing, causing the earth to spin faster on its axis... Sounds like a job for the creator of the internet proper, Mr. Algore! :D |

I just checked. Seems to be accurate to me.
Have you made sure to update the clock manually via the link provided?

I did reload the page...and you're right, it's on time now. But trust me that is wasn't a few moments ago, it was like Accurist and time.gov. I did reload time.gov and Accurist about three times each, and both remained for a time at +18 seconds.
The Greenwich site has obviously corrected in the interim between our posts, it would seem. This has to be an internet issue, which is why I suggested getting help from its inventor. ;) But all Algore jokes aside, these online time sources were all three off by +18 seconds this AM... It may have only to do with my own internet service provider--I don't know. But I've seen enough this morning to swear off calibrating watches by what internet feeds say... :( Dan |

I no longer use Accurist. I find it to be wrong more than right. Lately I just reset my Mac by forcing a time check. It's spot on to the Naval Observatory.
I still call the NO, but if this trend continues where my Mac is spot on after a time pulse, I'll go with that alone. |

I keep my time vs the Black Berry net time! So the Black berry and Rolex are either both very right or both very wrong, they running off by 0.5 seconds of one another!
