Second thoughts
Hello all,
Im just about to pull the trigger on polar exp 2, when all of a sudden the daytona white dial popped in my head, the only thing which made me pause a bit was dropping approx five grand more for the daytona im now sitting here thinking if i should go with my original choice of the polar or spend the extra money for the daytona, im just not sure what to do. But i wanna decide this week cause i have the itch that needs to be scratched. Jcheers |

Both are great watches and it's a personal choice of course. For me I would be thinking how your new watch will compliment your current watches and what your needs are. The Daytona does have an almost cult following/status though and that carries a lot of weight.

Daytona gets my vote. I have 6.5 wrists so no Exp II for me. Both great watches and Im sure you will be happy with your choice. Cheers.

Will you need the GMT function more or the chronograph? What size fits you best? You can never go wrong with either, but if function isn't a determining factor, go for the Daytona. You will not regret it.

Assuming cost is not a factor, go with the one that suits your needs and wants the most.
If you feel the difference in cost is better spent on another sports watch, then go ahead and do so. The Daytona is a watch that is worth the price, especially considering the movement and the rarity (not so much in recent years) in various areas of the world. Still do not come across this much in my neck of the woods. Both choices are fine timepieces. Just get the one that makes you the most happy. |

Try picturing both watches on your wrist for a few days and see which one you want more. If you get Polar II but really wanted Daytona it will bug you going forward.
Good luck with your decision. |

Don't think of it as an extra $5K to get the Daytona, think of it as an extra $12K when you get the explorer and 2 weeks later find yourself buying the Daytona. Just buy the daytona now. Boom! I just saved you $7K.

I prefer the explorer but I'm an owner. Now we all know the problem with this addictive hobby - you will want another one. I say get the explorer now it's a great piece and the 5k is a great start on the next...... which you will want in about 3 months.

Have the Polar Exp 2, love it. If you get a good price on it, you can always flip or trade it towards a Daytona later if you decide that is what you want.

If you get a fair deal on the expy, then you won't lose much to trade up.

The Explorer II is a nice reference but I like the Daytona much more. If it were me, the Daytona would be the one but it is your decision. Get what sings to you. Resale on a Daytona is way better and an Exp II.

Don't get me wrong great watch it just wasn't proportional to my size I'm a tall guy just looked a little out of place on my frame. I wish it wore more like my hulk, then it would have been no contest

Five thousand dollars is a lot of money if you were not prepared to spend it. The Explorer 2 is a great watch. I suspect the Daytona will follow. Think of it this way: you can have both, just the order differs.
