Are all the white face Explorer 2's referred to as Polar?

Just wondering if all the Explorer 2 are nicknamed Polar or just the ones with the orange 24 hour hands? Sorry if it's a silly question but thought I would ask since the forum is a place for discussion. Thanks and cheers!

I think the name applies to all white faced Explorer II watches. It's just a nickname anyway.

Yes, all of the white dial ones except for the ones that turn cream colored. Those, of course, are then called "cream dial" I think.

But like Grady said, they're just nicknames anyway.

Thanks for the replies guys. I know their just nicknames like "Hulk" or "Batman" just was wondering why some people refer to them as "Polar" and some don't. Guess it's just a matter of preference. HAGW and cheers!

Some of us don't understand the fascination or the need to nickname everything, so, no, just because a dial is white it doesn't automatically become a "polar" to many of us - I mean, what does that make the black one then !!! .. Probably stems from the fact that some of the classics have nicknames and so now they want to be the first to find a name that sticks..

I will never call a watch a Hulk or a Batman.

It's a beautiful watch. Do you have one, or thinking of getting one?

I'm kinda torn between the Explorer 39mm, Explorer 2 or GMT 2 as my next watch. I have a 16610 Sub, 1803 DD, 16620 DJ, 16013 TT DJ and 114200 AK and was thinking which one of the above 3 will add to my collection.

Myself would call them all either white dial of black dial explorers nothing could be simpler or by there Rolex references.

Isn't the black one an Explorer Noir?

Chaps

Slightly off topic but the one thing that drives me nuts is when some people insist on calling a date Sub a Sub.

A SUB HAS NO DATE.

If a Sub has a date and Cyclops on it, then it is a Sub date.

Is that so difficult to remember

Regards in a grump

Mick

I only call the 1655 (not cream) and 16570 polar. Not the new ones with orange GMT hand.

Why? I don't know :)
