Newbie looking to buy watch as gift

Hello!

Looking to buy a DateJust II, blue face w index mark dial, 41mm w fluted bevel for my fiance as a gift. We walked into the Rolex store in NY was were quoted a price of ~$9100. I looked online and I see that I can get it for ~13% cheaper. However, I prefer to get it from a certified dealer due to the horror stories I've heard. Also, don't want to deal with getting it appraised, etc. I wanted to post and see what the experts have to say? Any advice is appreciated . Thanks!

if you go to a chinese ad, they'll take off the tax if you pay cash. another advantage of getting it at an ad is that you can print your name on the title.

personally, i'd find a better deal online, use escrow.com (have it looked at before releasing the funds), and get an lv ipad cover with the difference. but i like louis vuitton lol

Welcome to the forum!

I would advise you to look at the classified section here and you'll find an even better deal...DavidSW, among others, are very well known and trusted sellers and can have your name on the warranty card.

Welcome.

If you are looking to get a bit of a discount but still want the security of buying from a dealer's store you are best looking for an independent jeweller who is authorised to sell Rolex. If you check on the Rolex website it will show all the authorised dealers in your area. You are much less likely to get a discount in one of the Rolex boutiques like the one in NY. You are also less likely to get a discount in the middle of Manhattan. Go to one out of the city/upstate or even over in NJ etc.

If you are in California send a PM to OCROLEXGUY a trusted dealer here and an absolute gentleman, many here will vouch for him. I'm sure he can meet you and give you a great price.

You could easily get a discount, if you paying by cash and buying outside of New York City

My fiancee bought me a Datejust II a few months ago for me to wear on our wedding day. I too actually arrived here on the forums to research all the info I needed to know before she made a purchase.

The "trusted sellers" here are called that for a reason and have very much earned that title. I contacted davidsw for the specific model and forwarded the info to my fiancee. (Prices are significantly less than retail)

From the moment I enquired about the watch to actually having it in my hands was probably less than 72 hours, and it was a huge plus to have my name on the warranty card.
My fiancee and I were beyond happy with the entire transaction.
