The new Verb Hotel is a retro-themed hotel in Boston, and they have typewriters as decor in some of the rooms. Typewriters will be chic soon!

My first sales job was with Xerox Corporation. In addition to copiers we had the Memorywriter. Daisywheel vs. the IBM Selectric ball. Had lots of cool features vs. the Selectrics.

I'd never go back - but would enjoy one for the novelty.

I also remember this stuff:

Invented by Bette Nesmith Graham in her kitchen, who sold the business to Gillette in the late 70's for almost $50 million. Her grandson Michael was the main heir of her fortune. So if you ever wondered why the Monkees didn't stay together, it's probably because he didn't need the money.

Nesmith was also widely considered the most talented of the Monkees.

Yeah, he is also generally credited with inspiring the idea of MTV. He is the guy who created pop-up videos for Nickelodeon. Time Warner morphed the concept into MTV when they acquired Nick.
