NY Times Article-Scott Beamer's Rolex

A very good and touching article on Scott Beamer's Rolex: "A Moment in Time Captured in Pieces"

God bless him and all the good folks who died on 9/11.
A terrible act of terrorism.
We will never forget!

Great read! Just wondering but is that not a 36mm case Thunderbird bezel?

Great post. Been to the museum with my 15-year-old son recently and seeing that watch (as well as most other parts of the exhibit) was an incredibly emotional experience unlike anything else. I strongly recommend a visit if at all possible

I glanced at the photo of the watch, then read the article. It wasn't until I read the article that I realized I missed the most significant part of the watch: the date.
I returned to the photo and stared at that date for a long time...

I think the NY Times got some of the watch's specs wrong, but they certainly touched on some very poignant and reflective aspects of those events. Interesting how the eagerness, hopefulness and symbolism of the Rolex came about in a very uplifting but at the same time sorrowful light, the way his dad had gotten the watch as an achievement and his son followed suit. Interesting take on history as seen through those object.

Great article.

I live a couple of blocks from the WTC. The new tower is the first thing I see every day when I walk out my front door. The memory of 9/11 is still very fresh in my mind, especially every September when the weather feels just like it did on that day.

God bless Beamer and everybody who took action that day, and all he men and women who are still taking action and putting themselves in harm's way to fight the fight.

I know people have a lot of opinions on nicknames, especially the silly of super hero ones, however, in tribute to Todd Beamer whom is a true american hero, I believe we believe we should nickname this model of Datejust w/ the Thunderbird bezel and Champaign Textured Dial the Beamer Special...or Beamer Datejust. In fact, a few days back I saw one in the For Sale section and I thought that is the same model that Todd Beamer had!

Here it is:

A very poignant article about a very poignant artifact from a very poignant day. May God continue to safeguard the souls of all those who perished that day and all those who perished in the years that followed in the fight against terrorism.

Wow...sorry for the typo's on my above post, got interrupted mid draft and did not proof before hitting the quick reply button. Appears it was to late to edit it, as the edit button is not showing itself to me. Ouch, that is what I would call a rough draft!
