New Owner of Rolex Sea Dweller 2014
I have been a watch enthusiast for a number of years but have never owned a Rolex. I own a variety of brands including Bremont, Jaeger, Glaschutte, AP, and my personal grail watch, a Lange. Iike to rotate watches but was still seaking a versatile watch to wear every day.
Which is where the Rolex comes in. I like watches that are durable and flexible, meaning that I can go from a meeting to a pool and to a black tie event (not that I attend these anymore, but hey, you never know). I have been looking at the SD for a few months and finally took the plunge. (Warning...I am new to Rolex so my nomenclature will probably be wrong). I love this watch. I needed a date, but don't like the cyclops so the sub was out even though it is a great and classic watch. I have smaller wrists so the 40mm size and smaller lugs are great. If I'm diving below 10' then something's gone terribly wrong, but I'm active in the water and there is tremendous security in knowing how rugged and waterproof it is. The steel band is incredibly comfortable. Rolex really does make the best bands. Ceramic bezel is very nice, although a bit shiny. Blue lume is strong and very unique. Whilte gold around the hour markers really enhances legibility due to its reflectivity. The more I look at the SD, the more I appreciate the attention to detail and high quality. I read many reviews here about the SD and other options so thanks to those of you who posted. I will share my one bit of advice for those of you considering the SD. I love it, and I think it will become my daily watch. However, in buying a Rolex, you are really committing to the brand. I don't think there is any bad choice. A watch purchase is very personal and needs to fit your own needs, so unless you buy to collect (watches should be worn), do your research but get something you love. I'm glad I'm part of the Rolex team. |

Welcome to the Rolex family.
Welcome to the Rolex Forum. Welcome to the incessant demand for pictures. We like to live vicariously through you, or count you among our "brothers." Congrats on what I think would be a perfect daily Rolex if it weren't for a catalogue full of perfect daily Rolexes! |
