new 116610LN question
Just bought my first Rolex Submariner last week. Very happy with it. Question when I have not worn the watch for a day or two it stops, basically when in the box it will stop only after about 30 hours, is this normal? sorry if this is a silly question in advance.
Thanks |

Hi, welcome to TRF and congrats on getting the Sub.
It's very normal. I think the power reserve capacity for the Sub is about 40 hours. And this is only the case when you wear it and are moderately active - i.e. walking about and moving your watch wearing arm to drive the rotor to wind up the mainspring. If you aren't active enough, the power reserve will be less than the stated power reserve. Give her a good manual wind and happy wearing. |

It sounds like you may need a new battery.

I'm fairly active on a daily basis. I just have the habit of giving my daily wearer watch a full (40 turns) once a week. I've only had one (an EXPII) stop once before the week was up. That's because I was healing from an injury and sitting on the couch for several days. I think it stopped around day 5 or so. In short, not a bad idea to give it a full wind once a week even if you wear it every day.

Sounds normal. The best solution is to wear it more.

Don't laugh, I was at my favorite AD and a gent came by with his new Sub and said his watch stopped. The sales guy asked if he wound it fully and the gent said wind it I thought it was the battery.

Congratulations!
I feel like these things should be addressed by the retailer upon the purchase of the watch. Just as they give you some general information about care and maintenance for cars they should do the same for Rolex watches! |
