Hmm...I might have a problem with winding ...

Hi,

I have a new GMT purchased from a trusted seller on TRF. When I wind the watch with the crown it feels like every 5 or 6 turn something skips in the gears. I've never experienced this with any of my watches.

What is your opinion...Is this something to be concerned with? What would you do?

Contact the seller and see what they say. Then I would get it looked at by a competent watch maker and/or an RSC.

Is it fully wound and you feel the clutch slipping to protect it from being overwound??

Could that be it??

I know little about the mechanics. Is that a feature of the clutch to slip like that if the watch is fully wound?

I hope so...fingers crossed.

Have had this happen before when it seems like the stem keeps slipping out of the engagement point on the winding train. Only seen it with screw down crown watches. It's not "locking" into the winding position cleanly, and the pressure from you winding is pushing it in just enough that it slips out of engagement.

Probably time for a service.

Since its brand new...I'm hoping what I feel is the clutch slipping. Can anyone describe what clutch slipping feels like?

Transition from "small clicks" to "big clicks". Wind it while it's up to your ear.
