My first Rolex exercise watch...

I wear Rolex watches pretty much every day in the office, but I am also an active exercise junky- running, swimming, surfing, snorkeling.

I've seen threads recently from people who have been wearing their newer Rolex watches while the run and swim.

So here goes, this is my just serviced 1991 Rolex Exp II (modified by me) with orange waterproof strap, which will be used as an exercise watch. I will start working out with it on Monday; I expect the EXP II will hold up well....

Excellent choice, although all Rolexes will handle anything you throw at it with ease as for as those activities you mentioned. I even used to dive routinely with a Datejust

Great looking Expy !

Well, it's not an iWatch with fitness apps, but it will do in a pinch

It sure looks a lot better than the Timex Ironman watch that I wear while exercising.

I don't understand why people feel the need to workout in their Rolex. My Gshocks serves me well when working out or playing racquetball.

You want to look good when you're staring into the mirror during that 7 minutes between sets.

I go watchless when I work out, our class has a digital clock on the wall that tracks our workout timeline.

Inexpensive Hadley Roma neoprene 20mm strap purchased at swap meet. Soft and comfortable.

That was the thinking- exercise in style with a brand I admire.

oh yeah, it changes the look, with the bezel paint removal it no longer resembles a Rolex, this is what I intended. Can't wait to hit the surf on Monday

Like the watch and like the strap. That Exp 2 is so nice, don't know if I could relegate it to pt duties though. Not because it can't handle it but because that beauty is vintage goodness.

Also without a rotating bezel it leaves it kind of limiting. Still a great combo though.

Very nice. They'll all handle the activities you have described but golf clubs and as well as workout equipment (cable machines and the like) seem to ding them the most.

I'll be swimming at my gym tomorrow before church - with my trusty GMT II C two-tone.

Your Explorer set-up is cool and can handle even more.

Enjoy.

X2 the gym I go to in chigwell has a load of posers doing hardly any weights but oh they all wear those rollies. I just smile.
When I work out I wear nothing as there's my phone for the timer for rest between sets and that's it.

Agreed, for running, the absence of the rotating bezel is missed, but this EXP solid bezel works best for ocean/sand. I did a long run this morning, then some a little ocean swimming- Conclusion, I like wearing a Rolex when I exercise....!

I think you might be the one who inspired me to try this. If you can wear a nice GMT IIC two tone during your workouts, then my beater exp II can handle the same. Thanks for the inspiration...

I haven't joined the "I need my iPhone when I workout club", but nearly everyone I see here in southern California works out with their phone either in their hand or strapped on to their arms, etc. As I have commented regarding the applewatch, I'm not wearing an electonic device unless it's keeping me alive...

I wear a Gshock when running, but can't imaging wearing a watch during Crossfit; the coach times the workouts.

Nice! Like the 'ghost' bezel and orange strap. Let us know how it feels and wears after a month of workouts; no doubt it'll hold up just fine

Thanks for the feedback gents. Today I noticed that the white dial is a nice feature when looking at the watch under water, and as I mentioned previously, with the Exp II there is no issue with sand getting stuck between the case and bezel.

I wore this watch all weekend; it's now back in the workout bag until Saturday...
