Why no DateJust Love ?

Hey all, after being new here (2 weeks) first I like to say, I have learned SOO much already !! I LOVE TRF !
I have been a rolex fan since I was old enough to know what a watch was, (became a diver at 16, and a boat captain at 25, maybe added some fuel to the fire) ;)

I got my Rolex, from my father when I Rec. My US Coast Guard Captains Lic, and haven't worn another watch since.

After spending the last couple weeks reading through the forums, I have noticed that almost all conversation revolves around the Subs, and Sport watches, just wondering why the DateJust isn't discussed more ???

Anyone ever seen the breakdown of number of sport to dress watches produced every year ? you think it's about 50/50 ?

(missing my TT, DateJust, that's at RSC NY) :(

Perry,

I expect there are a bunch of closet DJ owners on the Forum..

As far as a breakkdown goes, I'm not sure you could find one...However, I would bet that there are more DJ's sold each year than all the sport models combined...

That's interesting because almost every Rolex I spot is a SS sub.

The DateJust is the highest selling watch in the line from what I have last read. The demographic of the people who post here is a narrow representation of Rolex's total customer base. Personally I have a 1603 datejust from 1977 that I inherited after my fathers passing and I love it. The most comfortable watch I have ever worn and I really enjoy it's wrist presence. You have a fantastic watch.

The reason the DJ is the #1 seller is because its available in the full(mens), small(ladies) and midsize(unisex) lines. The sport watches are usually bigger thus more in demand by the WIS who frequent these forums.

I have a TT DJ and a TT Sub. I wear the DJ 60% to 35% Sub to 5% other. I think the DJ is a true classic. Not too flashy, not too big, a true professional's watch. (The desk professional that is.....)

I think most of us appreciate and admire the DJ - I know I do! However many TRF regulars are more committed to ownership of the sport models - I know I am!

I LOVE my wife's DJ and I hope to own one too some day. However, there are also many other brands of dress watches I also like. Few are as durable a dress watch as the DJ though!

Oh, welcome to TRF!

I love my DJ TT 1601 ('77) on a jubilee bracelet. It was my first Rolex and I paid $850 !!! At that time I felt it was a small fortune. And it's so classy

I really think the new jubilee will not stretch as bad, at least I hope.

Great photo, cocopeep

That domed smooth bezel goes really well with the oyster bracelet and the dial's great, too!

They're great, aren't they Karis and the frontrunner of the range for 50 years.
That's got to say something about how proud the company is of it's best seller, surely

I'm a closet DJ fan. Actually, (please don't flame me), I really don't like the sport models except the Daytona. The large bezel with the large numbers is just too much for me.

Have DJ and Omega Aqua Terra and looking for a white SS Daytona.

I love the Datejust & think it is a classic Rolex design and recognisable from a mile away! I always wanted a TT white faced model and eventually found mine which I would never dream of selling.

I thought I'd post a picture of it although I suppose most of you are sick of seeing it by now!
