ADs in Manhattan

Any advice for ADs in Manhattan selling preowned pieces and which ones have good service? Would also be interested in any non-ADs you think I should check out. Interested in 60/70s DD and DJs. Thanks in advance, TRF!

I know of Lorilil (AD) in Queens, but I don't know if they have pre-owned pieces. Someone help the brotha out.

Not much on the AD front (other than Tourneau). Non-AD will be the only way to go, and for vintage, I am not your guy. Others here can direct you to the best places. The only one I am aware of is Sheartime but I don't think he has a store front.

Unless you really know what you are doing, stay far away from the diamond district in midtown.

I have just enough knowledge to have come to this conclusion myself but appreciate hearing the advise again.

Why? I've visited NYC many times but never come here. I was thinking about visiting Diamond District next month but these posts scare me a little.

I bought an 114060 at Lorilil. They sell pre-owned Rolexes there.

Usually a small but interesting vintage collection at Grand Central Watch. He's way in the back near the Vanderbilt Passage. Tourneau on 57th has lots of pieces but all overpriced. There are a few guys on 47th (diamond district) that I'd consider buying new/grey from but don't trust them enough for a used piece

Is where you go on the Diamond District, go to B-On Time on the DD, is a small booth, 20 W 47 St NY NY right off from 5th Ave. they have everything PP, Rolex, VC, AP etc...at very good prices. Believe me I live in NY and this guys are super nice and honest, sometimes for small things they don't charge me. (Unusual for NYC) ask for B or Faddy tell them Oscar from Waldorf Astoria sent you. I am not associated to them in anyway, but this are my to go guys in NYC, and I have done my research. PM me if you need more info advice while in NY, I work for hotels so I know my way around. Although the diamond district can be a very scary place if you don't know somebody, there are a couple of sellers on here I have spoken to in the past that I wouldn't hesitate using. Deephouse (Jacob) comes to mind, I have also heard good things about mb23 (michael) and elitetime (Gagan) . As far as the AD route, Tourneau has a huge selection but awful prices so that would probably deter me. Good Luck! For 60's-70's, I would look into speaking to andrew shear at sheartime who might not have a storefront but seems like he could find practically anything.

Yes they do.

I'd call lorilil before going down. Their pre-owned collection is limited and its not the easiest place to get to.

Not so much out and out fakes. Those are on Canal Street. I know basically zero about vintage, but my sense is that in the diamond district you are more likely to get frakenwatches and watches that purport to be all original, etc. that in fact are not. You really need to know what you are looking for, and what the going rate is before venturing down there. Just my opinion of course and I am sure there are good dealers down there, but there are some real slime balls too so you need to be careful.

The Diamond District can be a lot of fun. You'll see more watches in an hour or so than you will all year anywhere else. The prices are also very competitive given the volume of dealers in such a small area. You MUST know exactly what you want down to production dates , features, etc., the price you're willing to pay and never buy from the first place you visit. Once you deviate from your plan.... There are some brick and mortar shops on 47th that have been there for decades versus the booths that seem to come and go. There are some great deals to be had. It is not, however, a refined shopping experience and probably not for everyone. I'd also be weary of older models that are more prone to modifications.

Didn't mean to put down all the good sellers in the Diamond District, just meant to say that I know I am not educated enough to be able to navigate in confidence. Lots of great tips though, appreciate all the insights into the areas.

Also thanks for the advice to avoid Tourneau! My wallet can't afford that
