Datejust Oyster vs Jubilee

Im getting my Datejust steel gold 36 mm. Which bracelet should i get oyster vs jubilee ?

Tough question to answer. Oyster more sporty, but Jubilee is extremely comfortable. Try them on & see which one fits your lifestyle the best. :-)

Love my vintage dj on the jubilee. It has some stretch these days but even in the beginning when it was still nice and tight it's extremely comfortable, especially after a weeks of having broken it in. Wouldn't want it any other way. Goes well with the cuff of a dress shirt or way dressed down in tshirts or a sweater.

Very personal choice, but I would consider type of bezel when deciding about the bracelet. I prefer Jubilee bracelet with fluted bezel, and Oyster bracelet with domed bezel. Congratulations on your new watch :-)

For me

Flute = Jubilee (classic, comfortable, more dressy but can mix it informally, looks amazing, did I mention comfortable :)
Smooth = Oyster (more modern in style to me, looks great, more sporty in my eye therefore more suitable to sports model but can look great with less dressy incarnations of the datejust etc )

But in the end as long as your happy then

Jubilee bracelet. The Datejust and Jubilee bracelet is a perfect combination. Not to take anything away from the Oyster bracelet, but the Jubilee is a better choice for the Datejust.

i think the jubilee gets more attention , and suits an older wearer ,, oyster is cleaner sportier and has a younger look
but , try both , and decide then..

Even though a ton of people copy it, a Jubilee band is more signature Rolex. Oyster is a nice bracelet on a Stainless Steel watch with a smooth bezel. If you are going 2T I would say Jubilee! Good Luck!

I have two Datejust models: TT with jubilee and SS with oyster. Both watches have fluted bezels.

From my experience wearing both, I'd always go with jubilee if it is a TT band, as it will not show scratches anywhere near as bad as the TT oyster. Personally, I prefer the oyster band with non polished center links, again, because normal wear scratches are tough to see. Not the case necessarily with the newer DJ SS models with polished center links on the oyster band.

I prefer fluted bezels on the DJ or DD models.

I enjoy my super jubilee bracelet a lot. I have to agree with those who said that the fluted bezel looks best on the jubilee while the smooth bezel looks better with an oyster bracelet.

I like how the oyster looks but you can't beat the jubilee for withstanding scratches and abuse.

Those polished/flat links are scratch magnets. While the segmented jubilee hides scratches better.

With regards to stretching; a stretched oyster looks really bad while a stretched jubilee still looks kinda ok. Though it is probably easier to stretch a jubilee.

That said, I'll still choose oyster over jubilee even if jubilee ages better.

Must say that I prefer the jubilee, especially for vintage watches (and even more especially for vintage datejusts). It really brings out that vintage look and feel. And they are extremely comfortable!

Sorry for the newbie question, but what actually causes the stretch? And just the same way, will the modern Oysters still stretch in the future?

Jubilee is more signature Rolex... I feel like a lot of brands have bracelets similar to the Oyster. I like the look of the Oyster band better on Steel watches, but Jubilee on 2T. I feel like high polished center links on Oyster bands show scratches waaaaaay too easy!

Stretch is caused by wear in the link to link connections and will happen on all bracelets. Because the Jubilee bracelets have twice as many joints as the Oysters, the stretch is more pronounced.

I have a TT oyster and scratch magnet is an understatement.

Stretch in Jubilee not only casued by the number of joints, but also due to the softer gold content (18k) in the Rolesor models.

Still have my 1991 Rolesor Datejust with fluted bezel with oyster bracelet (no noticeable stretch whatsoever) and prefer it that way. Scratches can easily be polished (which is why I prefer to wear my SS 11610 more often), but stretches in the Jubilee will be close to impossible to repair.

Whatever your (OP) choice will be, a DJ is always a great choice.
