5513 from 1983 opinion

Hello, I'm trying to learn about the ref. 5513 rolex sub. I've seen this one for sale, looks immaculate, it's got a matte maxi dial and it's from 1982. There seems to be little or no patina. Is that likely to be because the dial has been refinished at some point? here are some pics... Thanks!

Look at the dial at the 6 o'clock position; if it says " SWISS T< 25" then it is probably original and not refinished.

Search this site for threads on patina. Tritium dials that were stored in the dark for many years have darker patinas than those worn in the sunlight all the time.

This watch spent 25 years in a drawer....

Good luck in your search for a nice watch...

I know there's a lot of members who read both forums, but post this on the vintage forum and you'll probably get more responses. There's also a "sticky" thread there about this reference.

That's a nice looking Maxi 4.
Sometimes the patina on the hour markers darken over time, sometimes they don't. The amount of UV exposure over time plays an important part in this.
I have a Maxi 4 with white markers as well, always brings a smile to my face, and makes a great daily wearer.

From the provided pics, it looks to be very nice. I prefer the stark white dial on these, it just looks right and provides good contrast to the matte dial surface.

Check this out, you'll learn everything you need to about this reference: www.5513mattedial.com
