Whisky advice

So I am looking for something new. My 'at home' drinks are either Dalwhinnie, Balvenie, Dalmore, Macallan or Black Label. If I am out at a bar I may have an Oban, Talisker or Glenkinchie.

So, knowing what I usually drink, any recommendations? Finding something that's in the middle of a Dalwhinnie + Dalmore/Balvenie or Macallan + Blacklabel would be nice.

An option I've used in the past is Masterofmalt.com

They have quite a useful system which shows you what other people who bought a whisky you like also bought.

You can then buy samples of 35ml to try at home before you buy.

Best of luck

Come to the peat side! Caol Ila or maybe Bruchladdie 10? Just to start you off easy. Then maybe the Laphroaig QC.

How about a Hibiki 17 or Yamazaki 12 from Suntory? There is something about the water in Japan that makes these whiskey really great.

If you haven't tried it I would recommend the Balvenie Caribbean Cask as something a bit different. It's a little sweeter as it's aged in Rum casks.

My first post but on a subject dear to my heart.

May I recommend Mortlach 16 year old, or Glenfarclas. Both outstanding in my humble opinion sharing your own tastes from the brands you mention.

Hope to have some watch news soon also !

The first thing I would do is make the switch to a real man's drink (i.e., bourbon).

Yes, this is an excellent whiskey, 14 yrs old and only about $60/btl here in US. Dalmore, Balvenie and Macallan are my 3 favs.

Have you tried Yamazaki 12? It's really good. The 18 is not bad either, but bang for buck, the 12 is really good.

Not a drinker now just the odd glass of my favorite single malt Laphroaig 10 year old did try the 15 year old but prefer the 10 .I used to like a good few pints of Irish Guinness and the odd beer occasionally, but my cider gliding days are now over owning to being diabetic and poor health.

My advice; sip don't guzzle!

Seriously, I'm not a Whisky drinker... but you will find them here for sure.

Which Yamazaki just won the award? I have my local store trying to get a bottle of the Sherry Cask for me, but I've been wondering if it wasn't the 12 year that I should be trying to get.

I'm a Glenrothes man, myself. Incredibly drinkable. Highland Park is also delicious.

If you want to mix it up and try some rye, Whistle Pig is my favorite brown liquor of the moment. I'd rather have a glass of that than most single malts.
