Have Rolex owner/buyer not a heart?>>>>
We see strange questions all the time here like:
Should I Buy this? Sell this? Trade this? Send back this? Have the Rolex owner/buyer not a heart to follow? Not the guts to made a decision? Are the peoples around opinions so important for you when you should made a decision? I don't get why someone ask what watch he/she should buy. Have people not a own will and must follow the stream?

Most people will go with their gut feeling and do what they want. But I think we ask each other these questions sometimes because you get answers from different angles/view points and suggestions you wouldn't of otherwise realized if you didn't ask the question.

Could not agree with you more Jocke!! I always wondered the same thing. When I see what I like, I jump in with both feet. I never worry what other people think!! I buy for me, not to impress others.

I disagree. It can be helpful getting thoughts and ideas from others, particularly feedback from current owners.

One has to remember, many buy a Rolex not so much for themselves but for others - what others will think of them. In such a case, the opinions of others as to which Rolex to buy is of more import than the "heart" of the person actually buying and wearing the watch.
There comes a point in life, for some it's sooner - others later, when what others think takes second seat (if it gets a seat at all) to what one wants for one's own self. That said, if someone has a case of the Gottahavitz for a particular watch but is concerned about what others may think, then this board is not a bad place to obtain an advisory opinion of sorts.

Jocke, is your camera broken?
BTW, I'm a Charmin ultra-soft man myself. Top shelf stuff. ---- The indecision seems to come mainly from first time buyers. They haven't yet realized they are going to end up buying every model that catches their eye anyway.

Its Always nice to hear peoples opinion on a decision that one have a hard time making, especially if you have missed out something on a certain Rolex model that the knowledge peoples here can make you view it in Another angle should you choose to listen to the advices. I mean, I ask alot of the things that you Jocke have put in this thread, but that is because I know the people here are as passionate about watches as Iam, I dont run around Town (yet) asking people about opinion on my purchasing. So is the people opinions around this forum important? yes if it can make me view things in Another angle or just for the fun reading to help me make my decision easier.

I have often wondered the same things. If you have to ask, maybe it's not the time to buy. It's not that input is not valuable, but often people seem not to have taken anything into account about their own needs and tastes when asking such questions. If a person doesn't know if he needs a YMII or a SkyDweller, how would I know?

Asking the forum which Rolex to buy is a dangerous thing, as you'll just get dozens of conflicting subjective answers that will just muddy the water. Then there's the inevitable "you can't go wrong with a xxxx", which is a very regular and very bad piece of advice on TRF. You can go wrong with any Rolex if it's not the one for you. I don't blame first time buyers for asking, but I don't get how multiple-Rolex owners need guidance on what they should get next. If nothing sings to you, it's just shopping by numbers. Rant over, no offence intended.
