Which one??? Rootbeer 16713 or Blue Sub 16613

I have been looking around for a 16613 blue sub, but I do like the 16713 Rootbeer with oyster bracelet.

I have seen very few Rootbeer style for sale and a lot of blue subs, which would you get?

Just generic photos form the Internet.

If it's one or the other, I'd probably go BLUE.

I had a Root Beer for a while. I keep thinking this model is poised for a jump in value, but I just can't warm up to the look. I prefer the look with a Jubilee bracelet, but the Oyster is nice too. It also looked good on a leather strap with two-tone end links. A bit on the dressy side, I wore it frequently to work when I wore khakis and a polo shirt.
The blue dial Sub but I have not owned personally, but I think it is one of very few two-tone models that I would enjoy wearing.
If I were you, I would be on the lookout for a nice Root Beer. It should be pretty easy to sell if you decide you don't like it for some reason. The blue Sub always seems to be available.

Blue Submariner. Have you tried on the newer ceramic one? The ceramic would be my vote!

Blue sub, a coworker has this exact reference and it's awesome.

I have tried one on, it is nice, but it is way out of the budget for me.

Blue for me.

Personally, the root beer looks like something from the 70s that didn't age well. Just my opinion.

They r both beautiful watches IMO. If u want to wear now n flip later, the sub is a better choice.

They are both very nice, however the root beer belongs one a jubilee. I have the 16613 but have always eyed the root beer. If I were to purchase another TT Rolex, it would be the root beer for sure.

I would say get the 16613 first.

As one who has bought and worn both models for a long time, I can tell you it is a matter of taste. I recommend owning both so you can switch as the need arises - or as the mood motives. So just start with the one you can get easiest right now - then begin the elusive hunt when funds are available again.

The Root Beer is still in my collection and the only reason the bluesy is gone was a buy offer from a guy that I couldn't turn down.

Tough question, I'd buy both, although rootbeer is much more scarce.
Can't go wrong with either, get one now, the other later...

My Root beer is probably my favourite watch in my collection right now. I had not liked them very much till I saw one in the flesh, and they are stunning. The reality is it polarising watch, the strong negative opinions already expressed above are usually held by those that have not seen one.

I love the sub as well, and have a regular SS sub, in my personal opinion the Root Beer is more likely to go up in value and indeed are as they are less common, the blue sub is more attainable but worth having both in the collection.

Really a case of buying what you want. If my root beer is a throw back to the 70's or 80's then it must have been a cracking time, as I would take mine over a modern ceramic GMT everyday of the week. Love it more each time I put it on. The discrete almost invisible Rolex writing is a big part of the appeal, as it has been described in previous posts on this forum, it is a true watch fans watch.

I was in Asheville NC this summer and ran into a gentleman wearing a rootbeer nipple dial he purchased new in the 1970's. He said everytime it was serviced the AD wanted to buy it from him. Sweet watch!

I really like both of them a lot. If you find a Root Beer you really like, grab it. If patience is not a virtue the Bluesy is fantastic!

Having both, I think the Sub is beautiful,
modern and looks great with everything. My Rootbeer is 1970 and feels delicate and 'special'. If I needed to sell, the Sub is easily replaced, but the Rootbeer is a full-set and would take a a large sum of money. For everyday where the odd scratch isn't the end of the world, the Sub. For a special 'divides opinion' watch the Rootbeer is amazing.

tough choice ,,, but , the swinger would be the clasp , i think the 16613 needs the gold through the clasp ,
maybe in the minority , but the classic shape and radiant dial on the 16613 is just the best , when the sun catches it the dial is like a kingfisher almost iridescent.

Your generic internet photos have made want to go out and buy the blue Sub right now, sadly I don't have the funds. Root Beer on a jubilee is a good choice as well though so I don't think you'll go wrong with either. Good luck.
