Should I change 1665 end links to 585's?

I have a 1978 5.7m Mk1 Great White 1665 Sea Dweller which currently has 580 end links fitted to it which I believe it originally came with, previously I owned a 1981 1665 which had 585 end links. I'm about to buy a new 93150 bracelet for the 1978 Mk1 so have the option to specify to Rolex 585 end links - should I go for 585's?

I know some 1665's (especially early Mk1 Great White's) were supplied from new with 580 end links but would the 585's be more appropriate for a 1665? There is no cost difference as Rolex have quoted me the same price for the bracelet with either choice of end link.

I've heard people say that the 585's are a better fit for the fatter case of 1665 but I can't see anything wrong with the fit of the current 580's (and I'm fussy!).

Thoughts and opinions welcome .....

585s are the best fit. They open a bit wider at the mouth, that's it.

Either work very well and I do think some of the later watches came with 580s.

If there's no cost difference, get the 585s. They are worth more.

How much is a new 93150 if you don't mind me asking.
I have a 1665 1980 that needs a new bracelet too.

I'm in the UK and I pay £850 from Rolex UK (comes with clasp, end links and free fitting while you wait) including the UK 20% value added tax.

Will the supply it without an exchange? I assume they must if you only have a strap but I wonder if they will it fit it to a red sub which in theory only came with the now extinct 9315 (of which I have a couple and don't like...).

I'll give it a go anyway. I have bought a couple of old 93150s if only to get 70s clasp code ones but a new one would be nice too..

Yes, they will supply it without exchange and in every case they have sent me home with my original bracelet. I also have a new 93150 bracelet on my Red Sub as well as I prefer them for a regular wearer (not that keen on play in a bracelet and I don't like the idea of possible rubbing / wear to the inside of the lugs).

The 585s are wider and close the gap under the Bezel better , 580s are suitable for sure but to my mind 585s are correct so if you are buying new it may as well be correct
