It just means that they have more than one in stock, so no specific serial number is listed.

If I am wrong on that, feel free to correct me...

Random serial numbers were introduced recently.

They are the most current alpha numerical system of rolex serial numbers.

They were using letters before such as V or G followed by numbers and you could get an idea of date of production that way. Now all we know is that any random serial was made between 2012-current as g serials and random serials were in production at the same time in 2012 then the g serial was phased out.

Rolex may have done this so that stock sitting at an AD for a long time wouldn't be viewed as old or depreciated if there was a z serial sitting in the case when they had already mived on to V for example.

Random serial numbers do not have anything to do with stock on hand. The serial number is set by the Rolex factory for record keeping.

Almost - some Random serial numbers appeared in mid-2010.

It's seriously not something to be overly concerned about, especially whey buying new.

It goes to some Rolex enthusiasts almost insane obsession with their serial numbers and the notion that they can, somehow, know when the watch was made. (it is possible to get within a few years, but that's about it)

It's not a healthy obsession because it detracts from true enjoyment by beliving that a Rolex may inexplicably "go bad" as if it were a loaf of bread or the mornings catch of fish.

You can be reasonably assured that any model that you choose will be almost exactly like another with only minor cosmetics that vary from time to time..

Random identification will be a big plus down the track as we won't know how old they are.

Only thing we can know is when it was sold by the warranty card which doesn't tell us anything more than that

Love it!
