Daytona for Daytona discussion
I currently have a yellow gold Daytona with arabic blue dial and dark brown leather strap (116518). I also have 2 others (date just and gmt II). I have been considering buying the white SS Daytona, but don't want to have 4 watches. Would a straight up trade for my current daytona for a new SS white daytona be fair? I would love to hear thoughts and opinions if this is a good idea, bad idea etc.
Thanks, Chris |

I wouldn't. A straight up trade would not be fair.
If you absolutely can't have 4, trade the DJ in for the SS Daytona. Good luck. |

Not a fair deal. Keep the yellow gold.

Haven't done due diligence but assume the YG Daytona used on a strap is worth thousands more than a SS Daytona ?

Bad deal. You would regret it. If anything sell one watch and the daytona and get a daytona on bracelet all gold.

Keep it on your wrist, that is a trade down for me.

Unless your YG daytona is in very bad shape... it's not a good deal

If you actually want to go through with it, let me know...
For what it's worth, I don't recommend you doing it.

I wouldn't recommend trading your yellow gold daytona for a ss daytona, unless they are giving you money on top.

Assuming good condition, your Gold Daytona sells for about 15-16k on the secondary market.

I figured it would be a bad trade. From my research I can see the YG Daytona is going for 15-16k used. The condition is spectacular as I take care of my watches well. I have always loved the white SS Daytona and would love to have it. I just don't want to shell out the cash as I just bought a house. I wonder if the date just ( 14 k wg fluted bezel with jubilee band, slate face and diamonds in face for number locations ) would be a more realistic trade. I can post pics if that would help.

Put it this way I would go buy a new SS Daytona even though I can't afford it right now and trade it today to straight up trade for your YG one Don't do it just have 4 watches.

As a side note, what would a fair asking price be for the yg Daytona be? 16500, 17?

My advice, keep the 116518, sell something else and get the SS Daytona. |

What year and condition is your watch in? That seems to have the biggest impact on that watch and other precious metal watches the most. You can find basically new WG Daytona for $16-$18k or for one in the same shape but actually close to new (year wise) and it will go for $20k+.
So unless yours is old and not in good shape it would only be a good deal for the one getting yours. |
