Brought home my 2014 GMT today
So I couldn't wait till Saturday so I went back to Boston to pick up my GMT today. I Love, Love it!! Quick question, i don't plan on using this watch as my daily because of the rough nature of my job so can I just put it away in the box and restart when I want to wear it again or do I need a winder? Someone told me its bad to kerp starting and stoping it?

Congrats and there's no issue with winding the watch manually repeatedly, though a watch winder is convenient to keep the timing

Nice. Congrats!

No, you don't need a winder. When and if it runs down due to inactivity, just wind it back up again. About 40 full turns. And no it's not bad for the watch.

From reading your OP, you definitely don't need a winder because you mentioned nothing about wanting convenience. That's essentially all a winder is - a convenience. There are numerous topics debating the use of winders, but it comes down to if you want the convenience of not having to set your watch versus the potential for increased wear resulting from having the watch running when it isn't needed. Of course, some of this is dependent on your wearing habits.

Letting your watch wind down and setting/winding it will not damage your Rolex in any way.

Great watch, and in my opinion the best looking TT Rolex makes !!!

The only reason to have a winder is if you feel uncomfortable with your winding skills and worry you will break it, if you are gentle and know what you are doing you will be fine. I enjoy setting my watches and with practice it becomes easy.
