Tudor Sub differences 76100 79190
So I didn't take much notice until recently but I have a 1989 Tudor Sub 76100, and over the last 25 years it has been serviced several times at Rolex New York.
I remember when I first got the watch, the bracelet had folded links which were immediately replaced with a Rolex bracelet. I also remember that the hour hand did not have the familiar Mercedes icon on it, but instead a plain round dot. I have come to find out this was referred to as a lollipop hand. Now I can't remember when, but some time ago, the watch hands were replaced during a service and the familiar Mercedes icon hands were now being used. Now since I've owned the watch, it has been all over the US, Mexico & Canada, back to Europe, and Africa. It has pretty much been on my wrist for everything I've ever done; Work and Fun. Because of this, it has needed service and always came home looking brand new. A true testament of the quality and workmanship put into this watch! On the last service I thought it needed to be totally re-done and since I was wearing a GMT II at this point, I felt the Tudor earned it. On this last service, I had the bracelet replaced back to a Tudor solid link bracelet 78500, and a new dial because the Tritium markings were no longer glowing. Interestingly enough, the dial that returned on the watch was different than what was originally on it. The old dial markings were just plain dots, and the new dial markings had the familiar silver outlined dots more akin to a Rolex, and the name "Prince Oysterdate" was no longer present. Now merely" Prince Date". I was hoping that someone with a lot more knowledge of this line could elaborate on this and give me a better understanding of the changes. From my reading it seems that my 76100, was replaced by a newer reference 79190, and the parts employed on my watch now represent the parts made for the 79190, not he 76100. Is there a difference, and what are they specifically, between the two? |

Sure thing. Here are pics of the Dial (Prince Date), Bracelet (78500 which has the wet suit extension too), End Links (380B), and the profile with the trip lock crown. Also the crystal is plastic magnifier, not sapphire.
