Do AD know in advance about a potential Rolex price increase?

Rolex did not have a price increase in the US for a while (I believe since 2012, but I could be wrong). I hope that the strong dollar will keep it that way, but my question is - do AD know in advance about a potential price increase? Will they let you place an order with the old price the day they get the notice?

No, they only get notified right before it happens. Also, they pay current Rolex prices based on when they receive the watch, not order it; so they can't just make a giant order at old prices.

They don't know in advance and find out when Rolex sends them new price sheets and asks them to destroy old ones. There are also countless threads on price increases.

Yes, there is a new thread/rumor every month about a new price increase and nothing has happened for years. I was just curious if one can order a watch on the day of the price increase and get the old price.

No you pay price date of delivery when AD gets watch not when you order.

They did go up here in OZ a month or so back as has all the other brands, the weak dollar sure has not helped. Concur on the timing it is quick so they dont really see it coming

In the past it seemed like they would receive the letter on Friday, and new prices were effective Monday. Gives AD the weekend to change prices of existing inventory over but not enough time to order more pieces at old prices.

In the many, many years I have worked for an AD only once did we get any advance notice of a price increase. That was about three years ago.

I was told just the opposite at an AD last Saturday. The salesman said; "If your buying, wait until after the holidays, we can discount then."

It is very possible that I misquoted the AD. My attention was focused elsewhere and all I caught was price increase in January. I wasn't concerned with it and didn't ask for clarification. Price increase threads pop up often and it's probably 99 percent BS. I apologize for my part in a ridiculous pissing contest based on rumors that should be taken with a grain of salt. It won't happen again.

Someone that posted a wristshot on one of the Facebook wristshot groups stated that when he bought his new Oyster Perpetual at a Rolex Boutique a few days ago stated that they will announce a price increase in march 2015. He claims they even showed him the new pricelist, with exact details on the new price for his watch (it was going up from $ 5600 to
$ 6200 or something like that).

Could it be that Rolex Boutiques know more than Rolex AD's?

...seems more likely the $6200 option was with a white gold bezel. No way does a boutique get a price list three months in advance, and show it to customers no less!

No advance warning but just a sales tactic and not a good one at that.

I've bought several Rolexes from him, so there is no need to use that BS sales tactic. Regardless, he knows I'll shop around so he can't stick it to me too hard. Most likely, I'll use one of the trusted sellers here for PM. I've done it before and said that's what happens when your price is high. I think it hurt his feelings a little.

Well so you know he is full of it as no AD knows when price increase is coming so don't feel badly since now you know he is full of it.

Although he could be right and it could be in Jan, Feb, March, April etc etc some time somebody will actually guess right. But make no mistake about it only Rolex themselves know and that is a fact.

Maybe, maybe not. Rolex is a large entity and there are multiple layers to trickle down price increases. People love gossip and rumors (ie. This forum among others) so it's hard to believe everyone is tight lipped. Does it really matter? I seriously doubt a price increase is going to deter anyone here. That's just a little less money I have to spend on strippers and cocaine.

No actually not maybe, maybe not. AD's do not get advance notice of price inreases and that is a 100% fact. Now does it matter to me? No I could care less but facts are facts.

No where did I mention an AD getting an official advanced notification. Stock brokers who do insider trading don't send official letters to their buddies. That's why it's called rumors and speculation. Without that official letter from Rolex, that is what everyone on this thread is spreading. People love rumors or there wouldn't be so many threads like this and I will gladly contribute.

I've ordered watches and the AD honored the original price if an increase occurred in between. Depending on the relationship you may be able to do the same. Doesn't hurt to ask, if you have your eye on something.

I, too, heard Rolex will have a price increase in the future. So readers should buy their favorite Rolex now.
