Hi All from UK newbie!

Hi everyone,

Just bought a brand new Explorer 1, I have had several Subs over the years and after much deliberation, decided to spend my hard-earned savings on an Explorer.

Now with it on my wrist I have to admit in feeling a little underwhelmed, its just that it is so understated, I feel a little ashamed to admit this feeling as it clearly makes me a shallow individual who just wants to show off, but I cant help feeling disappointed and this watch doesn't deserve it.

Will I grow to love my Explorer as I did my Submariners?

Regards,
A

Hi.

My honest opinion is no you won't. I'm a strong believer in first impressions. If your doubtful now the niggling feelings of doubt will grow and you'll flip it.

Personally to me your watch is joint top of my "40th" birthday wish list for next Xmas . But to state the obvious I'm not you.

If your a sub guy maybe re-visit (however did you flip those?)

I love the understaed look but again that's me and to each his own but if the doubts there already............. It's only a matter of time

Hi Artois, I understand how you feel. I had and Exp. 1 for 2 years and once I tried on a 114060 I felt like my Exp.1 39mm was "missing" something which the Sub would instead have given me.. For me was not really a matter of the understatement of it but just the aesthetic did not fully grow on me in 2 years.. May be for you it will be just a matter of time but if you see that nothing is changing then try again a Sub on and see how you feel..

A welcome from the UK. I think the Explorer1 is quite an understated watch IMO opinion but its a nice plain type of watch, its simplicity is its endearing feature.

Maybe it is growing on me, although a guy in the pub yesterday asked me if it was a Seiko FFS!
