Scratch on ceramic bezel.

I noticed today that there is a 2-3mm hairline on my sub-c's ceramic bezel. Confirmed that it is a scratch. Is replacement is the only option? Has anyone tried other methods to polish it away? Not a big enough concern to send it in, but just thought to learn about the options. A replacement would probably run about $800 I figure?

TIA,
Brent

You must have hit it against something very hard (e.g., a diamond ring). I don't think there is anything that you can do to fix the bezel. Personally, I would leave it alone. In time, it won't bother you anymore.

Sorry to hear that, but seriously scratches happen. I wouldn't worry about it. It's a watch. I cracked the filling on the 24 hour marker on bezel within a month of having the watch. I was bummed for a day and then forgot about it. I don't care that it happened nor do I think about it. Hope you reconsider replacing the bezel. Besides 800 USD to a WIS = new watch....new straps

I'm not good enough with macro to capture it. I have to hold it at certain angle to see it, as the ceramic bezel is so reflective.

Sorry this happened to you.

If it still really bugs you, the replacement cost for a new ceramic bezel insert installed is $375 from Rolex.

No way to fix scratched ceramic, you can only replace it. But I wouldn't worry, it just adds more patina to your beautiful watch. IMO a worn watch is unique whereas newer ones they all look the same.

RSC quoted me $375 last June for a ceramic bezel insert installed. This price is for a blue one for an 18k Sub. I believe the $375 is for any ceramic insert.

That's really good price!
Thanks for the info. While it doesn't bother me enough to change it now, but it's good to know what to expect when I send it in for an overall.

Really? There are a couple of blue ceramic bezels on chrono24 but they're both going for $1,000's!

A seller can advertise a product for whatever price he wants to,its up to the buyer if he/she is willing to pay for it.I have seen various aluminum inserts on many forums some asking very silly prices like upward of £80 yet the same insert from Rolex costs around £37.And now with the guys wanting to change the black aluminum insert to the green aluminum and visa verso. The green aluminum inserts are now Rolex RSC only, even the independents cannot get or change them and cost now almost £200.

Can't believe it got nicked square in the middle of the marker! What are the chances??? Doesn't look bad at all though, and I'm sure your frustration will pass.

Could be bezel and insert together.
