Gold!!!

I picked up a WG Daytona 116509 this weekend. While the weight and feel of the watch is amazing, I am a little underwhelmed with the look - I am value oriented and can't help but think that I could get 90% of the look for 50% of the price with a 116520. I'm enjoying it for now but I'm thinking this one will be gone soon for either a YG equivalent, or back to a classic 116520 with red hands swapped in.

With that said, snapped this pic this AM and had to post it because the watch is so sharp.

I like it - and people in the know will see it's value.

End of the day though, if you're not happy... I'll have it :D

Is it the look of the white gold or the look of the Arabic Panda dial that is underwhelming to you?

Actually the Panda dial a little bit. The white dial 116520 has a really bright white enamel look that I like a lot. The white on the panda dial is more of a textured ivory. As a result, I find that the stainless white dial pops a bit more.

WOW totally disagree with your assessment of this watch! It is one of the most beautiful Daytonas around!

If you truly feel the way you do I would get rid of it immediately and get something you can appreciate, cause if you can't appreciate this you certainly shouldn't own it

It's stunning, no doubt - it's just that it occupies a significant portion of the funds I can allocate to my watch collection - funds that could be put toward a YG piece or perhaps another SS and a TT piece.

Fortunately I did buy right so I should be able to get out of it unscathed.

Beautiful - really torn between that dial and the panda YG. Also trying to figure out if as a 25y/o, would I get enough use out of a YG to make it worth it.

I had the 116528 with black and champagne subdials. I then flipped it for a 116718 YG GMT. I am 28 years old, and found that wearing a full yellow gold watch didn't really fit my style. I loved both pieces and the way they looked, but the YG just seemed to be a little too "mature" for me personally. I tried to justify it by saying "wear what you want", but at the end of the day stainless pieces just seem to fit me better, are more appropriate in most situations, and of course are cheaper! YMMV of course, that was just my experience.

I can guarantee I will be revisiting YG in 10-15 years though. It has a amazing feel to it.

But if I was in your shoes I would have no issues flipping it and picking up 2 SS pieces instead if you aren't absolutely in love with it. And that is exactly what I did. That being said, that is a beautiful Daytona you have there!

That is one of my MOST favorite of all Daytona dials bar none.

I don't know that I will ever be in the the market for a Daytona, but if I was it would be this one. It is beautiful. I just like a date window too much. I am with the doc, if it is not doing it for you, it will do it for someone else. As Elsa says in the damn Frozen song that I have to hear over and over, "Let it go".
I hope you bought right so it is easy to swap out for SS or YG.

Don't worry about "look".

I'd say you got the right watch. Classic. Classy. Under the radar.

if it's really about "looks" for you, then, yes, you're right, you should flip it for something else, since the value probably isn't there for you.

Opinions of others always matter regardless of what we say. but, at the end of the day go with what truly sings to you. There is no better feeling than catching sight of your wrist during the day and just smiling!!
My 2c on your Daytona - what a beauty!

Congrats on your acquisition! Its a great looking watch but in the end if you're not totally sold on it I would flip it. Too much money sitting in that watch when you could enjoy something else. WG or YG sub or YG GMT would be a great alternative. Or maybe a couple stainless sports models.

That is my fav WG Daytona, but if WG is not for you that's fine, switch to YG or RG.

First of all that is a beautiful Daytona. Secondly, if you aren't feeling the love for it then by all means swap it for the one that puts a smile on your face when you look at it. My next Rolex will be a PM Daytona (unless something catches my interest after Basel 2015) and I'm looking at several tough decisions.

Congratulations, looks Great! I had similar thoughts when I went from the SS to WG to Platinum and then recently added a YG. All great watches, just go with what you love!!

I thought you couldnt put on a blacelet on the leather strap models. How do I get one? Will the AD do it for me?

You all make good points - thanks for the compliments and words of advice. I'm going to wear it for a few more days to see if it grows on me... I know the weight of it is quite addicting.

I think you should keep that beauty Understated luxury!
