Icon19 HYT Watches

Hi all,

I haven't seen anybody talking about HYT here. For those who are familiar with HYT, what do you think of the brand? Are there any owners on TRF?

There is something about HYT that is so interesting to me. I think HYT does an excellent job of combining modern and traditional. The company is very forward-thinking and the execution is just awesome.

Despite being so modern, the movements are quite pretty.

Here is the CEO, Vincent Perriard, showing off the the features of the HYT H1:

Dominique Renaud recently joined HYT:

Vincent and Dominique were both formerly with AP.

Execution? Haven't they been unable to deliver?

What do you mean? I see them for sale as well as pictures of people with their watches.

Maybe they had some problems early on (I am not sure), but that's to be expected from a new company, I'd say.

From what I have seen and read they look great.

Though, I much prefer the layout of the HYT 2 with the "bellows" positioned in a "V" formation.

A little too "gimmicky" for me.

I feel like this is something that would be out of style in 5 years.

They're cool watches both aesthetically and mechanically speaking, but definitely not for me.

Funny, I prefer the layout of the H1. The H2 does look great, though.

Understandable. The same can be said about brands like Richard Mille, I think. Who knows if they will have any lasting value, but right now, I really like what I see.

I think you make a good point. Even if the watch is not for you (i.e., you are more of a purist), it's hard to fault the company from an aesthetic or technical standpoint.

I'm also not a fan of of Richard Mille.

There are some unique designs that I am a fan of that I am curious if they still stand the test of time. Glashutte's got several examples from that Inverse to the PanomaticLunar.

The PanomaticLunar is a watch I am considering for my next purchase, but how it ages is something that hasn't brought it higher on the list.

Guess I'm too old to appreciate the modernistic look. Well, I appreciate it but would not wear one myself.

The way I see it, life is too short to worry about if something is going to look good in 10+ years. If you have the money to blow and you like something now, you should buy it.

It looks like something that the Borg would wear. I thought you would appreciate something like this.

Of all the watches to suggest are a unique design, the panomatic lunar is pretty far down my list. It looks nice but is clearly a derivative of the lange 1. For that, it loses lots of marks from me personally which is a shame as they are very well made.

That is something I've considered. But it's a little more modern and affordable. I really like how well decorated the movement is.

I'll probably end up with the JLC Master Ultra thin moonphase as my next watch.

They are interesting. Due to lack of history and more, at that Price point, it's not a consideration.
