1954 Oyster story

After many hours of searching file cabinets and drawers I have finally put all the pieces together. My mother bought my father a new Rolex Oyster for Christmas 1954 at the PX on Guam. I have found the original box, receipt, and certification papers. The watch was serviced a few years ago and runs and looks like new.

Too excited to sleep - I feel like I just got it for a present!

Any info, model # etc. would be appreciated. Thanks!

WOW....it's a small world we live in! Great story about your Dad's watch, but Guam is half-way around the world!

I got there in early 1972, and checked out the Navy PX too. Got a very nice Sub 5513.

It sat in a drawer for over 30 years and got it serviced 18 months ago...

My Guamanian ROLEX says "hello" to yours! Wear it in good health sir!!

My bet is that it is either a 6284 or possibly a 6581.

You will find that information between the lugs along with the serial number.

I'll look. I'm pretty sure the dial is original. Every other example I see shows "Swiss" at the bottom.
