Advice on a new Rolex addition
I am about to purchase another Rolex watch to add to my collection.
Currently I own 16570 Explorer II (Black) with RubberB strap in black, and 16660 Sea Dweller. I like to have a diversified collection which I wear all pieces in rotation. There are 3 models that I am interested in. 116520 Daytona (black) 14060M Submariner (no date pre-ceramic) 216570 Explorer II (42mm white) plus Rubber B strap in white Option 1 Buy the 116520, that will be the end of my purchases for the next several years. I will wear this Daytona sparingly due to its highly polished finish which is a scratch magnet. Option 2 Forgetting about the Daytona for good. Fini. Purchase both the 14060M and 216570, and enjoy all of my collection by wearing them like they are stolen. Option 3 Buying just the 14060M, and saving the rest of my budget. Eventually years down the road picking up a 116710BLNR or 116719 BLRO or an old pepsi. Please share your thoughts, I appreciate your responses in advance. Definitely photos will be posted |

Sounds like you really want the Daytona or BLNR. I wouldn't go adding another explorer II to your collection if its variety you want.

Without question the Daytona will work perfectly.

Option 2 is more watch for the money. I have the black daytona and it's such a wow watch though. If I sell all my watches Id keep the daytona. Timeless

Option 2>option 3> option 1
Don't buy a watch you are afraid to wear. If you fear wearing a daytona, forget about a blro or blnr as well |

Daytona for sure but I would consider a white face as its better suited in formal occasions. I think that would best round out your collection. The Daytona could be your dress watch and you'll have two perfect everyday pieces. It would also be nice to have a chronograph, GMT and dive watch.

I'd get the Daytona, but a white face for some variety. If you are worried about scratches... Ditch the bracelet and throw a strap on it. I wouldn't buy a watch I intend wearing rarely.
If I have to pick an option, I would still go with the Daytona in black. |

Option 4: Buy the Daytona, then wear that like you stole it. It's a tool-watch, it'll be alright.

There is a lot of love here for the 116520!
I have wanted that watch for a decade, there's something really appealing about it. The watch will definitely complete my little rollie collection. I probably get another RubberB for it, red will look awesome on the black dial. I will wear it like I stole it, no more sleeping beauty in the dungeon. BTW anyone here got word if Rolex might give the 116520 a facelift any time soon? |

Monochrome just ran an article of their predictions for BaselWorld 2015, which include the Daytona: http://monochrome-watches.com/rolex-...ches-hope-see/
Guess the most you'll have to wait is a month and a bit. |

Daytona or BLNR
__ Suggestion, go for a DJII for dressy days ? plenty of non black dial options to choose from |

Daytona. And don't worry about scratches, as Dr. Tom said, wear the heck out of it.
