DSSD Deep Sea Band on SD or Sub-Date
From what I've seen, the Deep Sea band/clasp is a huge improvement over the flimsy junk we get these days for forking over thousands for a Rollie...Anyone know if this band will be available separately as a replacement for the current 16600 band - because that would be AWESOME!

This band will be a lot different.
Unlike the current SD or Sub where you have to pop-out the extension link, the SDDS extension link actually retracts from the clasp! The clasp has "teeth" on it also. My only concern is, the SDDS weighing over 200grams is surely going to be very Top-Heavy and as such, will place a lot of stress on the bracelet links. Unless Rolex came out with an improved SS stronger than the current 904 steel, I'd expect that there will be some extreme cases of bracelet stretch with the SDDS. Anyone here heard something different? |

The DSSD bracelet will very likely come as a spare part like any other Rolex bracelet. But I doubt it would fit the SD 16600.
Reasons: The lugwidth of the YM II (also 43 mm!) is 21 mm (not 20 like the 93160 bracelet for the SD). The DSSD being 43 mm, the bracelet for it will probably be a 21 mm lugwidth bracelet, too. The case height of the SDDS is reported to be 17 mm. (The SD is 15 mm). About stretching: Adjusted correctly (snug fit), I doubt that the DSSD bracelet will be proned to stretching issued. Also, bear in mind that the centre links are SOLID on the DSSD bracelet, making it much stronger.

It's my understanding the complete watch weighs over 200gr., including the bracelet. I would think the weight distribution would be pretty even.

Yes i did thanks, i have made a small donation of apprieciation to our leader and everything has been adjusted accordingly, i haddnt just had time to reply to your message, as something elce had attracted my attention on one of my posts! Thanks for your help and assistance. and thanks fro the pictures. I love my GMT II, but i feel the bracelet lets them down, and ive been contemplating the pssibility f changing either the bracelet or the watch. Can you get root beer GMTs anywhere, do andy AD's have any left or are we down to the GMT IIc's only now? do you thing they will bring out a root beer or ceramic bezel colour dial option like the root beer, i hear very frew people on here mention them.

Steve, I think you'd have a hard time finding a Rootbeer at an AD now. But never say never. The Rootbeer does have its strong followers, also on these forums. There are also still some GMT II 16710's left at the AD, it seems.
If there will be a GMT IIc "Rootbeer"? I doubt it, but only Rolex knows.

The SD bracelet may feel "flimsy", but I think it serves its purpose well. I can;t wait to feel the new Deep Sea bracelet with the glidelock clasp
