Nice one!

Most recent Rolex spotting I made was the GMT II "Coke" that Keanu Reeves is wearing in "Street Kings".

I'm pretty sure Clarkson wears an Omega, though I could be wrong.

Re-post of mine from another related thread:

Yiiihaaa!

I just did another Rolex spotting here at work!

At 7.20 PM, Danish time, I saw a man wearing a DJ 1601 (SS with WG fluted bezel, Jubilee bracelet). Very nice vintage piece! Bracelet showed no stretch!I commented on the DJ and said it must be from the early 1970ies?

"Yes, it belonged to my father".

"Very nice! Have you made sure to service it regularly?", I replied.

"Sure! Every 5th. year. This watch means a lot to me. It's keeping perfect time, btw."

Just a small watch chat, but still very enjoyable!

Not recent but I was on a course in Aberdeen last year. 9 of us around this table. 3 subs (1 comex), 1 SD and 4 omegas. Oh and an embarised G-Shock.

I've seen Clarkson's Omega but I'm almost 100% positive he has a Submariner as well. You see it every once in a great while.

Anyone watch the show "Pinks" (Drag racing)?
One of the guys switches between a TT Blue Sub and what looks like a SS Sub.

Very nice link!

Thanks for sharing, Jerome!

BTW.: As you'd know (but others might not?) clicking "home" button at the bottom of the page brings you to other watch articles, including this one about watches sporting in James Bond movies.

John Candy was one of the funniest men to have ever lived. It's in keeping with this that he should have worn a Rolex.

As for Clarkson, I must be wrong. I could have sworn I saw a sub on his wrist. Not sure if I'm comfortable committing the mortal sin of confusing an Omega with a Rolex. Please have mercy on me for the watch was at a distance and not clearly visible.

Best regards,

J.

So funny that you say that Joe! I was watching Uncle Buck this past weekend on some cable channel and noticed the same thing. You can see it when he is sitting down looking at old wedding albums. Hilarious movie. John Candy was definitely a loss.

The recent hit film "21" shows our young hero sporting an SS Sub-date at the casino whilst playing Blackjack.

Surely when watches appear in movies (at least for the "stars"), they are supplied by the wardrobe department as per everything else they are wearing? But hey what do I know :)

More absolute trivia........Anybody ever watch the Cook and the Chef on Australian ABC early evenings, think the chef on that some times has a sub or sea dweller on. and I noticed Ramsey the other night with what looked like a yellow dial Daytona.

One for the Brits.....anyone notice that the small one Dec ? (of Ant and Dec) is sporting an EXP II recently and that Ray Mears in his latest series has traded his army issue style canvas banded something for a nice shiny Sub.

Rolex & Actors (UK programmes)

You'd be surprised how many watches in TV programmes are owned by the actors. "Steve Mc Donald" in Coronation Street wears a Sub. Steve
Mc Fadden (Phil Mitchell) in Eastenders wears a Sub. Sid Owen (Ricky Butcher) wears a Daytona, Ross Kemp used to wear his YM, but doesn't wear it in Ultimate Force.

In the latest series of "Trial & retribution", the regular cast wore Rolex "mules" that were owned by props but had to be signed in & out every day.

Not completely sure how it works on big budget movies. I believe it's more legally involved & companies have to pay if any actors wear any particular product & there's normally a clause where the product has to be mentioned or featured in close ups.

Dan Aykroyd in Driving Miss Daisy was on this past weekend and in a later scene he is wearing a stainless oyster from the 50's.

Also, I am sure many have noticed that Charlie Sheen looks like he is wearing a Platty YM on two and a half men.

I was having lunch in a small local pub last week, and the owner came by - wearing what appeared to be a gold GMT with a black dial. While I was trying to catch a better view (instead of just asking him about it....), another customer came in and sat next to me and my friends, and was wearing a gold DJ with a white dial.

I was wearing my Sub, and one of the guys I was with was wearing his Omega SMP, so there was quite a watch collection considering there were only about a dozen people in the whole place.

For some reason or another I have made many more sightings since just before Basel than ever. I don't know if its just me or what, but there have been a few more instances than customary. To name a few:

16613 Blue Subs- one on the grocery store parking lot, one on television, one in a magazine just today, one in a classroom (the instructor's, of course), and one in a medical office

GMT II w/ a black bezel at Six Flags over Georgia (an amusement park in Atlanta)

A YG President DD at a resturant, one at a gun show, and a WG example at a hamburger eatery I was trying out with the wife and kids

A Platy YM at McDonald's

A Pepsi GMT at work, and an older TT GMT 1675 with a nipple dial & jubilee bracelet that belongs to a buddy at work

A TT ladies' DateJust worn by the nurse at my son's school, along with, incidentally, a Panerai worn by a parent

And, to finish the list, a Submariner worn by someone in a photo posted in another forum (no adds, swimsuit issues, etc., it was simply a guy's watch).

Has anybody else noticed anything like this? It is really cool to see so many, but I wonder why this is...

Cloverfield star with sea dweller

T.J. Miller -- "Hud" in J.J. Abrams' Cloverfield , "Marmaduke" on ABC's Carpoolers last year-- in front of Best Buy display for exclusive bonus disc of his "Cloverfield Diaries." Note older sea dweller.
