Is this 116520 real?
I am looking at trading my PAM 90 for a SS Daytona (white dial) with a private seller, whom I do not know personally. He approached me after seeing my listing to sell my watch on EBay.
Does this serial & papers match & are they real? He sent a photo of a receipt from Majors (AD) image.jpgin Sarasota Fl, purchase date 2013 (new) for $12,000.00 (no discount). Also, what is the safest way to do a straight up trade? USPS insured, we both mail at the same time. We are going to draft a contract to both sign to be safe. Any other advice? Thanks to all for the help. |

Will the contract be signed in the presence of both your lawyers or justices of the peace? Otherwise, why bother?

We would not be able to have our lawyers present. Do you suggest we forget about the contract?
How do I know he is going to send me this watch (if it is real). Has anyone conducted a trade cross country with a person they did not know personally? I feel the trade is in my favor as long as this person sends the watch. I don't know what to do..? |

It's a huge leap of faith. Are you sure they are his photos? Have him take a photo if the watch next to his drivers license. Check his references. How many sales on ebay? Contract sounds like a pointless exercise.

I was always told that you don't gamble with what you can't afford to lose. This is a gamble. If you can't afford to lose that gamble, then don't do it.

I wouldn't do it. No way at all. It may not be a scam but the potential loss is huge for such a small gain.

For a trade it's gotta be with a trusted seller or face to face.

What if he sends you his watch first, he contacted you from your ebay ad so he knows who you are.

If you're doing a straight up trade, with no exchange of funds, and you posted the original ad for sale, I'd let him send you his watch first. Think of it like you're still selling your watch, but instead of taking money as payment you're taking his watch. You wouldn't ship your watch to a person you don't know without getting paid first, regardless of what form that payment takes.

Photo of the watch looks fine but the real problem is whether the seller is genuine enough... The last thing you want is him sending you a Casio and you'll be really stuck...
Perhaps see if there are any deals going on TRF in the for sale section. |
