SS Daytona waiting list in the UK
I have been looking for my second Rolex and have been giving thought to the black SS Daytona. On asking my AD in the UK for their waiting list time I was told it was about four years if I put my name down now.
I can source from an independent I know, I think they are Italian supplied, but still I could not quite believe it was fours years at an AD until I heard it myself. I just wonder why Rolex let it back up like this in certain markets? R |

What!. That's crazy. They are in every shop here, and I mean every shop (we only have two in the city) Either way, I would get one from many of the great people on this forum.

That is hard to believe. My local AD always has them available (although never in the window). Not to mention every single trusted seller here.

my advice:
--- get cheap flight to Miami or NY --- order from DavidSW --- you will have a great Daytona on your wrist as soon as you want --- have a nice weekend in the US with your new baby In all seriousness I know life is not as easy as just getting a flight across the ocean but the situation in the UK with these waiting lists is just absurd. |

UK waiting lists vary a great deal in the UK on a ss Daytona. They know roughly how often they receive one and how many names are on the list.Eight years used to be the wait time around the same time as you had to wait 18months for a ss sub date.Nowadays, things are a little different, waiting times are no where near as long and I see many hard to come by models in ADs windows.I suggest you contact as many ADs as possible to find the shortest list, but have a feeling you should avoid London.
Kind Regards Nigel |

Especially in 4 years, the 116520 would be replaced by a new reference. Perhaps the AD will allow you to keep your position in line for the next Daytona?
It's readily available in the US. I wonder if there is truth in the extended wait time (in the UK) or if the AD is just trying to drive up demand on a no longer rare watch. |

To answer the OP's question, Rolex aren't letting orders back up, the issue is that the watch is still very popular in the UK so dealers allocations are always sold. They get roughly the same allocations as elsewhere.
The 116520 is no longer as popular in other countries and AD's often have them on the shelf so to speak. It's not unusual to find 3 or 4 of them in AD's in the Middle-East and Asia. The reason is that it's now the oldest sports watch in the range and as such not wanted by a lot of buyers who want the newest models in these markets. |

I had to go interstate to get a Sub ND, and even then I found only one at all the ADs. I was told 2 years wait on the Hulk by 2 of them as well. Maybe other members from Down Under have had better luck than me, but when you try to bargain with the price, they just smile. With so few watches around, and more buyers than ever, they just don't need to discount to make sales. YMMV, but that's been my experience. I look forward to visiting the States one day and experience what you guys do as far as Rolex buying goes

There are 4 at my AD right now in two different display cases. But I am not in the UK.

Call a few ADs in HK, I picked up a white SS Daytona in HK 2 years ago brand new. It was still in there safe.

I know it's a joke here in the UK. A friend in Dubai once told me the AD's over there will get you ANY Rolex in a week no matter what watch you wanted, I challenged him to find out about a Daytona he went into his AD and reported they have them in stock all the time and if they ever run out its a few days before them get them back instock.

Take a holiday to Bangkok. Almost every AD has multiple pieces. I would imagine HK has tons for sale as well.

All the work on the new Subway is just a nightmare, they've torn the heart out of what was my favourite Asian city. I get the feeling that it will be going on for a few years and even when finished they won't put it all back above ground to how it was |

How well do you know the AD?
Curious, what difference does an Italian import make? No duty to be paid and European warranty still holds. My watch dealer had a new Daytona £100 off retail brand new - Italian import |
