My Explorer I is back from RSC
Thanks to Mark from the Forum who put in a word and got RSC Bexley (London) to turn this round a bit faster than it would have been. Just a little embarrassing really as my vintage 1971 timepiece needed a strip and quote whereas my wife's 7-year old Oyster was routine and, with a bit of help from the Forum, mine is back first.
Fantastic job - smooth and polished throughout and I am happy again. It's like getting you pet out of quarantine! As promised, some pictures but not of the quality that some posters seem to achieve. Just need my wifes LadyDate to arrive (left RSC today). Regards Chris and 1016 |

Great looking Explorer, Chris. Trust the RSC to do the best job. They're top notch in restoration work.

Lovely watch Chris, without doubt one of the best Rolex's ever made.
I envy you very much. I hope you get a lot of pleasure from wearing it. I'd like one, but the chances of getting one are quite slim, since it seems the sad fashion these days, that watches like these are gathered up by greedy investor/collectors/hoarders, to fill up a bit more space in their safes- never to be worn. These people sit on them like misers, doing their bit to inflate values. I apologise for my rant on your thread. |

Looks great! The Explorer is a stunning watch. It has always been one of my favorite Rolex models.
This is a bit off topic, but this IS TRF afterall... I don't understand the appeal of the Explorer. It is plain, simple, easy to read, and so rugged that it looks "industrial strength". Years ago, I didn't pay much attention to them. I have a black face Air King and it's very similar, but the super-legible dial and the Submariner hands really make the Expy stand out. It's almost like the Explorer is poking fun at the lay people who think all Rolexes are jewel encrusted bling. It is the pure essence of a rough and tumble hardcore functional watch. The irony, is that it winds up being one of the best looking Rolexes in the lineup! Congrats on getting it back! I hope I wind up with one someday. Rawhyde |

Great watch - I've got the current Explorer. RSC seems like the one manufacturer-connected service entities that send the watches back looking brand new (and yours sure does)!
