Does anyone own both the 16610 Sub...
and the 116610c Sub.?
Questions: Which is your favorite? Would you buy both again? Do you plan on keeping both? Is the lume better on the 116610 Sub.c? Anything I missed? Thanks. |

My favorite? Depends on my mood... both have characteristics I prefer over the other. However if I could only have one, would probably be the 116610. I got my 16610 before the 116610 was produced, so I obtained them sequentially. At this point, glad I have both - but as stated above, if I were forced to choose, the 116610 edges out the 16610. Yes, keeping both. The lume still glows great on my 16610 - age obviously will affect lume on both models, and I assume someday the 116610 lume will die off completely. At this point, with both still fully illuminated, the 116610 is brighter simply because the markers are bigger on the 42mm dial. What'd you miss?? To me, they both have a different feel. The 16610 is a bit slimmer and doesn't have quite the weight. I have grown accustomed to the feel of the 116610, so the 16610 doesn't "feel" like a rolex to me anymore, unless I've had it on for a couple days. I would tell you that the glow from the ceramic bezel and larger case on the 116610 makes it a bit "blingier," so it screams "ROLEX" when it's visible. Lastly, I'd offer that IMO the bracelet on the 116610 is much improved over the older "tuna-can" model bracelet, is more functional with the glide-lock, and seems to be of better design so with time will not gain as much flex. Good luck with your decision process and enjoy the pursuit!

I own both but my favorite is the 116610 because of the maxi case, better-looking dial and the new lume with its nicer shade of blue. I very much like the way it seems to always, always look new. Even a buddy of mine that owns both, realizes his favorite is the ceramic one. Nope, I will never flip any of them.

I own both though my 116610 is the LV so take that into consideration when reading my answers. It is significant only because I will not go with out a black bezeled sport watch.
As for your questions... They're both my children so no real favorite, plus the Hulk is new to me so it's hard to judge. Obviously that will get more wrist time in the near future. I'm definitely planning to keep both but I can say for sure I would never sell my 16610 as it was a gift. The Lume is awesome in the SubC especially compared to the 16610. As for characteristics you've missed. Wearability: the SubC definitely has a stronger wrist presence both visually and the way it feels on the wrist. My 16610 is undoubtedly more comfortable due to the lighter weight and smaller case. I love them both for sure but if you have a tiny wrist you might find the 16610 much more comfortable. Cosmetic appearance: again keep in mind I have the Hulk so it's a bit different, but the polished link sides, seemingly bigger polished case and ceramic bezel give the SubC a shinier, slightly more bling look. It's not a bad thing or good thing, but just something to note. If I'm trying to subdue my look a little I might reach for the 16610. If I want to dress up a t shirt or something I might go for the stronger looking SubC. Both are incredible watches IMO. |
