Insurance Question
I have my DJII insured through USAA and not jewelers mutual. They insured it for the $9100 retail even though the receipt showed the discount my AD gave me. Has anyone else used USAA? They were very confident in telling me I did not need to use any other company. They are very cheap on my car and home insurance, and have always been great to deal with. I guess I just am surprised at how cheap it is to cover the watch through them. We also have my wife's jewelry insured with them.

Even though you insured it for $9100, not all insurance company's handle claims the same way. Some will pay declared value, others will nit pick and calculate some depreciated value. You have to ask your insurance company "what if" questions.

I have USAA
All my valuable personal property is insured at USAA. They're fantastic. My wife had a pair of diamond earrings insured thru them. She lost them. I filed a claim and provided the original paperwork that described cut, clarity, color etc.
USAA replaced them with the EXACT same cut, clarity, carat, color. No questions asked. |

I don't think you will have any issues with USAA, they are awesome. My house was broken into, and an expensive non-mentionable that goes pew-pew was stolen, that had a lot of custom work done on it. I didn't have the paperwork anymore from purchase, but they researched the type and the work done, and the level of work done, and paid out full retail replacement cost.

Insurance Question
I schedule most of my guns and watches with AAA. Never had a claim. But do know that USAA is always ranked at the top of US insurers for customer satisfaction and claims handling.

I have a valuable personal property policy with USAA. They're great. We have an umbrella policy for basic jewelry for "X" amount total. One item can only be reimbursed up to half the total value of the policy. In addition we have the more expensive watches, diamonds, etc scheduled for replacement value. In some cases, we have appraisals on file. In others, they've set the value as stated. My wife lost her engagement ring, and we had a check from USAA for the appraised value within a week. No questions. They've been pretty awesome with a home break-in claim as well. Rest easy!

Thanks to everyone for the response. I will rest much easier knowing they are as good on this as they are on cars and houses!

If it's through the VPP insurance, you set the value and no appraisal or bill of sale is needed unless it 15k or higher in value. I had to send the bill of sale in when I bought the 116619.
Coverage is lost, stolen or if you drop it and cracks or breaks. Pretty much anything And revisit the value 2x a year so you can make adjustments to it. I lost my TT GMT for 24 hours last month and it was under insured, now it's what it should be if I need to replace it through a trusted seller

I've been a USAA member for 26 years... only had to make a couple claims, but in all cases, the experience was well beyond expectation!

I forgot exactly what my policy is but regardless each article is insured individually based on the MSRP replacement value and this is done through appraisals for each article. Meaning, if the watch is stolen or lost, I get the replacement value of what it would cost me to buy it brand new from Rolex, not the purchased value below ASP even if purchase pre-owned. This also includes other jewelry and art etc., that we have had to insure. Only way to be sure you're covered. Home owners etc., won't cover especially anything over 5K.

We use USAA also. They are phenomenal. My In-laws use them too. My mother in law lost her diamond earrings and USAA wrote the check for the exact replacement (When they re-bought I think they added $ and upgraded carat tho). A year later they found the original earrings behind a piece of furniture and called USAA. USAA said no problem, please mail them or drop them off and we will sell them. Great company. And I'll bet people don't say that often about an insurance company.
