Rolex Baselworld 2015...
has left me unimpressed. The DD 40 is interesting but the new additions leave me flat. The rubber strap Yachtmaster is novel but not their best work.
To me it highlights the platona and the BLRO- homerums IMO. I thought the blue dial Milgauss was great also. Perhaps next year will be better... |

I agree. No one has really wowed me this year. The Rolex line is a dud for me, the Omega White Side of the Moon is another fail for me and the Bremont line is year is uninspired.

I personally like how Rolex moves slow, without following fads, and putting out special editions or a whole new lineup every year. It is a solid brand and the product stands the test of time - both with durability and their timeless style.
That said, I think we can expect to see over the coming years an upgrade to the line where the new Oysterflex bracelet will become available on more watches, and the new caliber 3255 harkens upgrades to all other movements. This was a baby step that indicates a possible long term direction. I am pleased they didn't do more.

I think Rolex did a good job this year. The problem with the "consumer culture" that we're a part of is that most people expect new things to be released frequently. Look at electronics (TVs, cell phones, etc...). If you own anything over a year old, it's practically a dinosaur by tech standards. People have the constant desire for something new.
I believe this mentality is now being adopted in the watch world. Manufactures cannot hit it out of the park every Baselworld. If they did, they'd be all out of ideas in no time. We need to manage our expectations (i.e., not expect something mind blowing every year). |

I think the new size OP is a VERY smart move for the size and price point.Shocking? No. But good solid move.

Nothing I am drooling over but the new 3255 has some good improvements. I think, because Rolex rarely releases something outside, the expectations people have for Basel are so high, it's tough to meet every year.
