From the Far East, Vintage Sub mega show (pic heavy)
Hi all, the event is hosted by Vintage Concept & Bonhams over this weekend in HK, showcasing mega collection of vintage sub. Its not everyday you see all iteration of single and double red in one location. Plus ~ half a dozen of Comex, and plenty of Mil Sub. I will let the photos do the talking, enjoy!
And a nice free booklet documenting all the pieces, and my TT OQ and my friend's awesome Pyramid OQ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

And at the other side of Bonhams, also very interesting, we have:
A German Enigma Machine A Soviet Cosmonaught Suit A planetary orbit "thingy" from London A Gen 1 apple computer Alan Bean's Apollo 12 Gold Speedy And Turing's manuscript Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Wow. Amazing subs.
The cosmonaut suit is called a Sokol, which is the Russian word for "falcon". It is used to provide hypobaric protection to crewmembers during launch and entry, in case Soyuz spacecraft depressurizes. Its counterpart is the Orlan (Russian word for "eagle"), which is used for spacewalks. Is this simply an exhibition? Or are the subs (and other items) on sale/auction? |

Excellent! Thank you for sharing!
I enjoy seeing photographs of these exhibitions, especially after hosting a few similar events here in the UK over the years! A very nice display put together by Thomas and his team at The Vintage Concept, and Nick B and the good people at Bonhams! Any photos from the after-party? Mike Wood |

Nothing scientific, but there were in total 50 pcs, at a conservatively rated USD 40k each (some lower, a lot higher), thats 2 mil USD already.

. . . I would have thought the 1665 Oman alone would have been well over 300K . . . ?

Stupid question? Did the mill subs just arrive as a head back in the days? Or are the bracelets just worn out?

Vast majority of Milsubs (models 5513/5517) only have fixed lugs and used NATO straps. No bracelets - though some have been civilian ized and lost a lot of value as a result.

I was surprised to see the Oman logo'd box.
Didn't realize they had collateral accessories. Maybe just haven't seen a full correct set before. |
