Conflicted: 114060 Vs. Seamaster 300 coax (AKA the new Bond watch)...
So I've been toying with the idea of flipping my Pelagos (or not) for an 114060 no-date sub and putting it on a Rubber B for summer...
This combo looks super sleek and sporty and should wear cool in the SoCal heat, but then I noticed this today... Bond (Daniel Craig) is sporting the Omega Seamaster 300 Coaxial on a slick Omega OEM NATO strap in the upcoming "Spectre" film. This combo combines two of my favorite things in watches, milsub looks and now Bond! Which should look like this on the Omega OEM NATO strap... I already have a BLNR so it's not like I don't have a nice ceramic Rolex to wear, the Pelagos is my beater watch (and boy does it take it well) but I really want a simple time only diver. I'll have to pop into the Omega Boutique this weekend and check out the SM300 in the metal but it's definitely giving me pause. |

The SMP is cool. Very cool. I love the details of it like the recessed and 'aged' lume. I love the bezel and the font. If it didn't have Arabic at the four corners I would be all over it, but for some reason I can dig the numbers. Personally I wouldn't do the trade but omega is doing a lot of things right with this watch.

You have to go with what sings to you, but the dial of the Omega looks to me like a biscuit tin lid. I much prefer Sub.
Good luck whatever you choose.

Checked out the 300 last week when picking up my new SD4000. Nice watch. Very cool vintage vibes. Also own a Bond Seamaster and owned a PO 8500. Also own the 114060.
I'd go 114060 over the 300. Iconic, no PCL's, the ceramic bezel on the Rolex is amazing and love the Glidelock. Try them both on and whichever sings to you will be the one. I'll bet it will be the Rolex. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I thought the SM300 was underwhelming in person. It was much smaller than I thought it would be. Go with the 114060, you won't regret it!

It's a beautiful watch and as nice if not nicer then the 114060. Tons of technology packed into the movement. I had one, wanted to love it, but could not get beyond the faux patina.
If Omega had made the dial with white markers It would still be on my wrist. |

The Omega is trying too hard. I mean if you really think about it, it's a great watch trying to work off the legacy of another. Just not for me.

I really like the patina color, but I need to see it in person.

Yes, a sub on bond nato is perfect and would look better than the 300m which would clash the grey and yellow I think. I wear my sub on a black nato and it's just the perfect warm weather watch. Stealthy and sleek and the wide lugs work great on the nato.

I actually wear my BLNR on a blueish grey NATO quite a bit, and that would certainly be an option for the 114060 but I like the look of the Rubber B better on that watch, at least for the moment. The thing that kept me from really liking the Seamaster 300 at first was the shiny bracelet, on the OEM NATO it looks much more professional and harkens back to the Omega SM300 Milsub as well as to the original Bond Submariner.

Tough choice. I had a 114060 and have handled the SM300 in person. Both have their pros and cons.
I think the Sub is a more iconic watch, but the SM300 is hard not to love. |

114060 is such a classic. Pairs very well with the BLNR. I have both and am very happy. Plenty of diversity.

I owned the Omega SM 300 Master Co-Ax. You will take a huge hit if you decide you don't like it and want to flip it. I would take the 114060 over the SM anyday and twice on Sunday.

Well this was my experience over 14 years ago when I was deciding on my first "luxury" watch purchase. It was either the Omega Seamaster the same one that was in the 007 films at the time or the Submariner. I choose the Seamaster cause it was cheaper and I thought the dial looked more modern. A few years later, I sold the Seamaster and bought the Submariner.

I like Omega a lot and I am not one of the Rolex or nothing devotee's of this forum, but I really don't like that Omega very much. Have moved away from retro watches particularly if they are faking patina.....
By the way what will real patina look like on faux patina....... in 30 years time. I think Rubber B on a no date sub is about as good as a Rolex can look (very modern, this or a PO would be my choice). So that would get my vote 100/100.....

I am finding myself very drawn to the Omega SM300 on NATO. I think it looks great.

I feel like like the new semesters are trying a bit too hard to be retro. It's not unlike domestic automakers clinging to retro-styling in order to somehow be relevant in the modern day. It just seems a bit counter productive, in that it's a fine watch and a nice limited run item, but I'd hate for them to make it a staple in the line up. That watch had it's day, and if they had decided to keep or evolve that particular look, like Rolex has with the Sub, it would be fine, but it feels like a cash-in to me.

Craig is a fan of Rolex Sub, and wears a type of Bond NATO (a wrong NATO but never mind, an expected mistake internet made with it a while ago and it stuck / it should have been navy/olive/red). The SMP300 with arabic numerals is basically a homage to the big crown sub in some way and can understand Craig pushing for it personally (at least would make sense given that he wears a Sub normally but this is an Omega sponsorship, so lets have a Sub Omega).

As mentioned both bring a lot to the table. Ultimately it's the one that sings to you the loudest. Between those two the Sub would win for me..

Well, you're on a Rolex forum, so there's that.........
I like both, and would gladly take either one. I'm assuming the Omega is a bit easier on the wallet. I have to say that I don't care for the faux patina or the second markers on the Omega. I feel like those are too long. Everything else I like, a lot. The Sub looks great, but you already have a BLNR. That's a debate I've had with myself several times because they are very similar looking watches. I too have a BLNR. Tough choice. |

fake patina diver with a very shiny bracelet and long end links doesn't do much for me. but, then, i also probably wouldn't want to have both a BLNR and a Sub (though it looks great on the RubberB, i have to say).

Since you already have the BLNR I would definitely go for the omega, it looks boss on that nato. I would definitely try and source a preowned one though cause buying one new you'll take a heavy hit on it if you decide it's not for you and try and flip it. Good luck
