Icon20 Cracking the Case

Is it out of line to ask to see the insides (crack the case) before purchasing from a dealer? If not, how to ask delicately without offending?

Thanks!

If you are referring to a new Rolex from an AD then I don't think they would oblige.
If you mean a second hand watch from a seller then yes, why not insist that it is verified.

sure mate.... if buying from the AD, you will be given a cold stare, buying preowned, it is almost procedure that the case is opened up for you to see.

But would opening up the case back have any effects on the watch like damage the o-rings?

It depends on who you are buying from. If buying from an AD, there is absolutely no reason to even let the possibility that the watch is anything but legit enter your head. That is just paranoid.........and I would think that it would be unreasonable to have the case back opened.

Thanks all! I am looking at purchasing a pre-owned from a non-AD but who still runs a very reputable business. My instinct is exactly that, that this is my money I want to confirm what I am buying but since I am so new to this I want to make sure I am not out of line.
Thanks again!
