Major issues with rolex usa for vintage stella
Hi,
I just bought a Rolex 1601 Datejust, Stella. The dial is custom colored turquoise. Aftermarket leather strap is same color as the face. I went to Rolex corporate office in NYC. They officially said that any "stella" or custom colored dial is considered a fake by Rolex. Even though it is a real Rolex, the custom color dials are considered fake. There are many Stellas custom color dials with generic bands, such as red, yellow, turquoise, etc., they are not considered real by Rolex. They also refuse to put on any other band other then what originally came with that specific model. BE CAREFULL OF THE CUSTOM COLORS which include 1601. Please post any thoughts about the non-value of these real Rolex watches. Last edited by ROLEX 123; 11 April 2015 at 11:59 AM.. Reason: add more text |

I doubt that's true since Rolex did produce them for the middle eastern market. Maybe your dial is a fake stella dial, but I highly doubt that Rolex would consider them all fake since they did produce them.
I could see people faking these, as they seems to fetch pretty high prices. |

FWIK, Stella dials pertain mainly to the ref.1803 Day-Dates, NOT the ref.1601 datejusts. When you mentioned "custom" dial, that was a big giveaway.

Hi Everyone,
Just Want to clarify, My 1601 datejust was custom painted before I purchased it. You might have seen these types, bright green, yellow, red, and turquoise. All thought I did verify as real from AD, Rolex corporare said they won't even consider it, because like many stellas, they were repainted. Hopefully resale will be as a real product. Thanks for reading!! |

I was actually trying to find information today on "Stella" dialed Datejust's today because I saw a guy wearing a green dialed DJ with plexi and it looked awesome. I couldn't find any information and it seems that it must have been a custom job.
With that being said when one purchases this type of watch they should know that it is not all original therefore price should be adjusted accordingly. Resale will then not be a concern if intention is to sell later down the line. |
