Worth repairing? 1984 Oyster Perpetual Air-King-Date
Hi all,
Finally found this forum and glad I did. Need advice on bringing my Rolex back, or close too it, to the way it looked in the mid 80's. The watch was given to me by the company I worked for at the time. I wore it constantly, and in retrospect, perhaps shouldn't have worn it while working on various projects. It's been in a dark closet for about 10 years, and now I'm looking at it and thinking to myself, "Way to treat a great watch Peter! Really should get this fixed and polished". It still ticks, so no problem keeping time. But the crystal suffered a crack and dust is now resident inside. There are scratches on the band and back as well. Not sure what it will cost to have it repaired and polished (if possible), and even, depending on the repair costs, is the watch worth repairing? I ask that since looking at used prices for this model (various years), the prices are all over the place. The back is engraved with the name of the company that gave me the watch (I intentionally blurred that out) I'm in British Columbia, Canada and assuming that I will need to send the watch to Rolex Canada, since I can't seem to find any other authorized repair center in my area. Thoughts and advice are very much welcomed! Thanks, Peter |
