What's the difference NIB and BNIB
Hi folks just wanted to know the difference between BNIB ( Brand New In Box ) and NIB ( New In Box ) obviously both items are new but our trusty TRF sellers here lists items as BNIB or NIB.
Thanks. |

I'm pretty sure it's the same. If there was a difference I would guess the "brand" part of being new, would indicate that it was recently produced.
i.e. the 2011 watch is new in the box. vs. the 2015 watch is brand new in the box. |

While the BNIB are same year watches? But I thought due to Rolex switching to a random serial numbering system there is no more way to tell if the watch was made in 2011 or 2015 am I missing something here? |

As for your question, I suppose the answer won't necessarily be exactly when the watch was produced, but perhaps the date on the paperwork/warranty card. This all chalks up to another argument to communicate as best you can with a prospective seller. Ask many questions and you'll have your answers. If you're not getting the answers you're looking for, move onto another seller. Sales lingo is not mathematics, so everyone will advertise a little different. |

nib = handled, tried on, or maybe owned but not worn
bnib = not previously owned or tried on and such both new, same thing really, just splitting hairs. an AD sells nib from the display case unless you get it from the shipping coffin, thats bnib to me, just my opinion. the word "new" is key but "like new" makes me ask ?s and not the same price. |

You'd be surprised to find out a lot people say NIB or BNIB, only to find out there's 1 month remaining on the warranty or no warranty remaining at all. As I mentioned before, regardless of the terminology, communication and asking the right questions is key. |

BNIB and NIB are same thing.
Depends on the seller and which one he uses. Both mean to me the watch is new, never worn, usually with all stickers in place. Obviously the best way to buy a modern Rolex, IMO. |

BNIB is never worn, all stickers unpeeled bracelet not sized.
NIB can be worn as a demo, without any signs of usage.

BNIB or NIB should mean un touched, un adjusted, un registered or un worn.
all others are used. pix trump all verbal - written descriptions. |
